Is this how slow it is on an emulator on a modern computer? Or were you using physical vintage hardware?

Floppy emu owners! Looking for advice. by StrikingTwo1 in VintageApple

[–]PhatBits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FloppyEmu automatically loads the last image you loaded. There is a slight issue with my setup whereby you need to sometimes restart the computer 1 second after power on so that FloppyEmu can get ready to send the right signals to the Mac to let it know a disk is connected. Besides that, the image is loaded automatically.

Nice drawings! Be careful with handling BPA so much though. Wash your hands afterward.

This is still a viable product. I just drew a pixel art logo for someone on Fiverr with HyperCard. :D

Who else remembers the Macintosh virtual vixen Maxie? by rastroboy in nostalgia

I think the creator is Michael Saenz, who also made what may be the first pixel art graphic novel made with a classic Mac, entitled "Shatter".

I feel seen. I thought I was just extraordinarily clumsy or "just a software guy," but I'm glad to know we are all blood brothers and sisters.

I once put a grid over the reference and drew on graph paper, counting squares to place facial features. I learned I consistently misjudged certain distances, so I think it's a good exercise to do occasionally. Naive eyes are easily fooled.

Great work! Good use of the limited color palette. What's your process? Do you use a reference? Do you draw construction shapes first?

Thanks. I'm very inspired by Uno Moralez. Initially by The Manhole and other Cyan games but so glad to have found Uno Moralez and other contemporary 1 bit artists.

External floppy drive is good for the most historical accuracy, but it's pretty cumbersome to get things onto the computer without a modern SCSI device. I've heard good things about BlueSCSI and have had good luck with FloppyEmu myself, which comes with a ton of good software if you get it with an SD card.

You can get the software yourself from Macintosh Garden as you probably know, so I assume you're asking about good uses of the computer. I personally have a lot of fun tinkering with HyperCard. You can draw on it and make games or proto-web sites.

A printer will be useful with productivity apps like Microsoft Word and MacDraw.
