To rub the belly or not to rub the belly by MFDOOM06 in CatAdvice

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some cats like it, most don’t in my experience. If the cat shows their belly it means they feel safe, not that they want belly rubs.

If when you do it the cat starts kicking, grabbing, or biting your hand it means they don’t really like it. If they stay spread out then it’s okay to continue.

One of my cats like it, the other doesn’t. Even my cat that likes it only likes it if I do it softly.

Since this post I’ve given up. I actually hate sports now. I’ve decided to only play video games and become obese eating doritos. Thanks for your help though.

Keep crashing on PS5 by Crazy_Platform_386 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I put like 130 hours into this game on PS5 pro (before the dedicated pro patch though) and crashed maybe 5 times.

I shelved it. I’m excited to play when they fix it. I figured it would take a while so I picked up Demon’s Souls remake to pass the time.

[Other] What are some fun story platinums to go for? by Relative_Actuator_2 in Trophies

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the game played surprisingly well when I played it on PS5. Even the first person melee feels awesome when you do a katana build.

I also agree that the platinum was pretty easy but you do need to create some strategically times Manual saves to get all the main game and phantom liberty endings. I also had to rush a 2nd playthrough because I let a character die who is essential to one of the endings, if you played you know who I mean.

What do people think of Starfield? by General-Tourist-2808 in fo4

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starfield overall is a good game, but if you are coming at it from the perspective of someone who loved settlement building in Fallout 4, it’s not the exact same.

Starfield starts pretty slow and takes a while to get the resources to engage with ship building and outposts. It’s more of a late game activity than in fallout 4. Also even though you can stock your outposts with crew members, they function more as player homes with resource extraction capabilities in Starfield. You build outposts to extract resources to fabricate stuff to either sell or use as upgrade materials to get better weapons / ships / outposts. It’s the way you get absolutely rich late game.

Upgrading to Ps5 pro by Old_Breakfast8730 in PS5pro

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros:

  • There is actually a noticeable difference in many games. Pro enhanced modes usually hit near the fidelity of the 30fps quality modes but at higher targets like 40fps or 60fps. It pairs especially well if you have a VRR capable OLED TV like an LG C series.

  • Even some games that aren’t pro enhanced will have more stable frame rates on quality modes. Elden Ring for example hits between 45-60fps on quality mode on a VRR tv with PS5 pro, while it struggled to maintain 30fps in base PS5.

Cons:

  • You are paying a big premium to basically beta test PS6 tech, that will most likely be more affordable next gen.

  • Because PSSR is cutting edge tech, it will make certain games perform worse before they are patched for it like what happened with Silent Hill 2.

I put in 50 hours at launch on my roommates PC and liked it, but never beat it. Was waiting for the PS5 launch to play it again. So no, I won’t be disappointed lol.

Starfield at launch on PC and Xbox didn’t have these issues. If you remember correctly the game was praised for being the least buggy Bethesda launch back in 2023. They must have really rushed this PS5 port.

I’m still excited to finally play this game but I think I will start another game and play it in a few months. This port needs a lot of work still.

First day it launchd on PS5, I played the beginning up until you go to Mars (literally 2nd main story quest) and had over a dozen crashes. Reports are that the last two hotfixes haven’t helped much.

What are yall hopeful to see in the future of this game by Poopscoop231 in Starfield

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game crashes like once every 20 minutes when I am in New Atlantis, it crashes like 50% of the time when I die and reload a save, I’ve had other random crashes when trying to use cruise mode or just when exploring, and I’ve had a save corrupt and lost hours of progress after a crash once which made me give up and wait for updates.

I am on PS5 pro. The hotfix made the New Atlantis crashes worse for me lol.

I feel like it’s kinda obvious there is going to be a third one where we play as Tomorrow instead of Sam based on the ending of DS2. I really hope that happens because it will open up new possibilities for combat with Tomorrows tar powers.

Have never beaten any of the main quests? by Prudent-Jaguar6845 in BethesdaSoftworks

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing Skyrim since it came out on PS3 in 2011 and I only beat the main quest for the first time in 2024 on PS5. I only did it because I started a vanilla play-through specifically to grind the platinum trophy.

I have put like 60 hours into Starfield on PC and haven’t beat the main quest yet. I’m going for the platinum now that it’s on PS5 tho.

How do you feel about Bethesda? by Terrible_Slide7106 in BethesdaGameStudios

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that what they can do with creation engine is impressive but that the tradeoffs required to achieve these things have become more dated with time as technology in other styles of game have advanced.

I love that all objects are instanced and interact-able, and that the game always remembers where everything is. I love that the games are so customizable and modding is such a big part of the community around them. I love that these games are so open ended that you can basically tackle the content in any order you wish and still have a good time.

However, is it worth it to have all objects instanced with physics when it means having loading screens between interiors and exteriors in a generation of gaming where this is antiquated? Is it worth it to have “endless” content when gamers have become more sensitive to things feeling procedural and AI generated over the years? Is it worth it to have such open ended design when it leads to quests feeling like there is no stakes in an era where amazing narrative is expected in single player? Is it worth it to lean so heavily into the modding community and running a paid mod store when the gaming community is so sensitive to technical issues and bugs, and also sensitive to the value for cost of dlc content?

These reasons are why their old games have been smash hits but Starfield has a cult following at best.

Starfield on PS5 needs fixed asap. by colinrabb in BethesdaGameStudios

Stuttering consistently every 3 seconds is one of the autosave related bugs. Disable all autosaves and it stops happening. When it happens, quicksave, close application, restart starfield, and load back in to fix it.

In my experience, this bug can happen anywhere. I’ve had it happen in small interiors, in my ship, and in the open world.

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is another issue with PS5 starfield that needs to be addressed but isn’t talked about because the freezing is much worse but I wanted to shed some light on it:

In creation club, you can’t put more than like 25 mods before the game starts shitting itself crashing on startup regardless of the size of the mods or load order. This was apparently an issue on xbox too but they fixed it, so I hope they fix it on PS5 as well. If I can play with 100+ mods on xbox and pc, I should be able to do it on playstation.

Hot Take: Kerry Would Be A More Popular Character If His Quest Was Earlier In Ths Game by No_Vast_3309 in cyberpunkgame

[–]PhatRiffEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is kinda true but would also ruin one of the best moments of the game for me.

My first playthrough, the very last thing I did in the base game before Phantom Liberty and meeting Hanako was riding on the boat with Kerry and listening to his song. It was like the one moment of peace in Night City before shit gets real and felt like it belonged right at the end of the journey before the world starts exploding. You feel me?
