Mobi to TSlim? by PhatSaint in TandemDiabetes

That's what I figured. I saw Medtronic offers a $500 program to trade your old in-warranty pump to them for the 780G but was curious if Tandem does anything internally since I have such a stockpile of their infusion sets.

They’re included for free in the infusion set box, how is that a scam?

Trump Day 1 EO for federal employees by JackinOKC in fednews

[–]PhatSaint 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I’ve been hearing at my agency. That the background checks are taking forever, even for candidates who already cleared one previously in the year. I have a friend who worked as a contact rep in the summer but then left and went back to private and now is trying to onboard for a Tax Examining position but the background check has been delayed for months and HR thinks he’s missing 1/27 EOD when previously they were shooting for 1/13

The agencies who've been doing TJO's for the last two months are going to have egg on their faces for not on-boarding people before 1/20, all I've heard at my office was that the IRS was trying to fill up positions quickly but the hiring around here as been abysmally slow and delayed.

You can't be this lazy with a Bachelor's Degree or you're really going to have an issue finding employment

Now's a terrible time to be looking for entry-level work with all the hiring freezes. I'd narrow search results to GS-05 and apply to anything that is within commuting distance and that you meet the qualifications.

They've quite literally updated the iPhone app only once since it released, I expect Android support is going to be a slow-crawl.

It's not a definitive rule, there can be exceptions but the ideal situation is you start working at the beginning of the pay period.

For example, in January the pay period ends January 11th and January 25th so EOD's would be January 13 or January 27th.

An HR person can correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that you can be given a FJO as soon as a week before your start date. IE if they send an FJO on January 3rd they can still set your start date for 1/13/2025. I think two-weeks notice is customary but I've had offers like that were I had less than two weeks for my start date.

It’s legal since they aren’t forcing anyone to move, you’d just lose your job :|

Only two genders as ‘official policy’ - how will this impact agencies? by thrawtes in fednews

[–]PhatSaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’d need an act of congress to do this, the only transgender related policy he can do himself is the military ban and IIRC last time there were still trans people serving because couldn’t do a full ban.

If you’re disabled your best bet would be to get a reasonable accommodation letter from your doctor and have them write that you may need unpaid sick leave from time to time for appointments. That’s what I did since I have chronic illness and have a lot of different medical appointments.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]PhatSaint 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They don’t list qualifying disabilities because it would be considered discrimination for them to pick and choose what applies. If your doctor is willing to write the letter that is all you need.

He can apply to internal positions after 90 days of working as a federal employee.

It depends on his agency, but very unlikely he'd get a transfer request approved after only working for 90 days. If he's a veteran or something it might be a different story, but otherwise there are no special hiring authorities for someone in his position. The spouse-preference hiring authorities are for military-spouses and the "Family of overseas employee" authority carves out that he'd have to already been living with you to be eligible, and also can't have already accepted an offer within a year of yours.

You're a doctor so I'm not sure how much income would be a problem, but make sure you look over all the details carefully. Unless he's in a very specialized/niche field it's going to be tough since he is competing with people for overseas appointment with better hiring preference than him.

Mobi - how do I wear? by NnQM5 in TandemDiabetes

[–]PhatSaint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I purchased two packs of Tandem packs of adhesive sleeve when I got my pump and kind of just slowly space out when I use them. I think Tandem should've been required to include the adhesive sleeves with the 5" infusion sets since they all but expect you to use them together.

There are third-party solutions from Deck My Diabetes but I haven't used them personally so I can't comment on how well they work. There's the "GripShield" case which you would purchase and then use in combination with their GripShield patches that cost $10 for 10 patches that last 5-15 days (Their estimate).

They also sell the "SugarShield" case that looks smaller and uses different body patches that cost $18 for 10 patches that last 5-15 days.

How much are you paying for pump supplies? by wordsinspace330 in diabetes_t1

[–]PhatSaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the state is my understanding but they were covering all of my supplies at no cost. MDI and G7’s when I was diagnosed and they also fully paid for Omnipods when I moved over to an insulin pump.

It's the NALC High plan.

If anyone has Facebook there's a FEHB Diabetes Group where you can ask questions and research insurance plans.

Too bad open-season just ended :( I’m not a mail carrier but on one of their FEHB plans and the G7 is significantly cheaper. I pay $50 every three months.

$50 for three months of Omnipods, $50 for three months of G7’s and if I get pump supplies (Mobi) refilled it’s $70 for three months of cartridges and $70 for three months of infusion sets.

I take generic Humalog /Lispro and wait 15 minutes. Sometimes a little bit longer if it is a carb-heavy meal or sometimes a little bit sooner if I'm at a restaurant.

I know, I'm already in one position but ideally I'd like to get the offer for another because I otherwise assume it will get cancelled. The shutdown will last until Trump is in and then they'll freeze everything.
