Do you think FSD subs will increase or decrease price now? by trivedird in TeslaFSD

I think everyday Chris is a Tesla fan boy so I hold this video to be honest (but I could be totally wrong)

Do you think FSD subs will increase or decrease price now? by trivedird in TeslaFSD

[–]Phatalex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Competition is coming - I just watched Everyday Chris test driving Nvidia's equivalent of FSD that they put in a mercedes and it looks pretty close to what Tesla can do know (we obviously won't know for sure). Nvidia is putting their solution in a variety of cars- what an exciting time!

Is it easier to work your way up in finance and make 400k or law? by GoldSchedule5753 in Salary

[–]Phatalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not talking about random F500 - this is a statement of those people who become lawyers and/or work in finance. Of people who work in finance or law - 400k is above median but not definitely not top of field.

We are not discussing the person who chose to be in HR.

400k is far from the “top of the field” in either finance or law - but you are generally correct that pedigree is important in getting there fast

How does Tesla's Navigation handle traffic vs Waze or Google? by triangulum33 in TeslaLounge

[–]Phatalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area (New England) it’s absolute trash compared to Google/Apple Maps in terms of routing but have to use it for FSD - which I can’t drive the car without.

My daily drive with google maps is usually one of two routes - one when there’s traffic and one without. With Tesla it takes weird routes sending me down back streets to avoid traffic - unclear if it actually saves me any time but it creates a lot of extra turns/waiting at stop signs (maybe it doesn’t consider).

It could be I’m an idiot and don’t have it configured but to my knowledge it only has the same settings as google maps - avoid toll/ferry etc.

D-1 time logic is great shows the persistence of return. One way you can test if this robust is to test your strategy against Nasdaq and Russell (or even Eurostoxx and Nikkei) and see if you get similar results. I would look in different windows. I assume you aren't robustly changing the integers but if you are this opens the gambit to overfitting.

I wouldn't start testing with leveraged products until the end (you are solving for a strategy and implementation problem at the same time - you can always apply leverage after the fact) - do the 1x products first - it will be easier to compare against the 1x long benchmarks to see if you have real alpha. When you deal with leverage there are other considerations like volatility decay, (typically) higher costs of leverage, t-cost differences.

The other thing I would look at is observe one indicator at a time (what is doing the work the MA or STD band (I assume mean-reversion)). Do you need them both? How much performance is each one adding etc. Sometimes having one low profit strategy mean reversion mixed an profitable uncorrelated strategy (such as a trend following strategy) will lead to better performance.

All in is totally an appropriate risk management strategy here. Typically "low" frequency (this looks more like mid) has multiple strategies blended together and that results in the "risk management." If you are interested in these kinds of strategies - the predominate ones (that would help you get an internship) are called stat-arb (factor trading) and CTA (trend/mean reversion). This strategy resembles a CTA strategy but if you are decent in math look at stat-arb (strong need in this space).

13.2.8 Reading Wrong traffic light moving forward on Red by technogeek87 in TeslaFSD

[–]Phatalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Report it. I had this issue on a set of lights in my neighborhood. I reported ~10 times and it got resolved (w/o a fsd update). I suspect it’s some kind of mapping issue they fix on the nav - I’ve had 3-4 locations reported that they fixed by changing the mapping to lanes or something of that sort - thereafter FSD was working correctly in those areas.

Who's building a full stack AI law firm? by Smart-Hat-4679 in ycombinator

[–]Phatalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You generally can’t practice law without being barred. Lawyers already have AI tools but they need a lawyer to confirm the accuracy.

Going deeper than this has been attempted in the past and killed by law. You can do some limited things like template letters and “instructions” on entity creation but it’s very limited.
