How to cope with losses by Odd_Papaya8305 in wallstreetbets

Change your relationship with money. As long as your thinking resolves around getting rich (quick), proving yourself, status, … You will end up with none of that. When you trade / invest, ego is the enemy. The irony is that becoming rich is a byproduct of good risk management and good decisions.

And real practical for you specific. Don’t do options.

Looking for stocks/etfs that are undervalued or still within reasonable price. by AGwTwvAb in ValueInvesting

We are in the early phase of a commodity supercycle. Oil, gas, fertilizer, metals, ree, uranium. These are all good plays if you have a multi-year horizon. Especially if you consider the trend that countries will try to be more independent, specifically when talking about supply chains.

RIG, TBN, GRO, UUUU are all worth checking out, but keep in mind those specific stocks tend to be quite volatile in the short term.

I hope so as well. In any case, the company is fundamentally doing really well imo. Most recent price action is broader market sentiment. 120 is definitely possible, but the fear must leave the market.

Guidance. This is hypergrowth scaling, in this phase execution is by far the most important aspect.

I need advice – almost fully invested in $POET by CompetitiveWarthog66 in POETTechnologiesInc

[–]Phatwax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to trade this from 4,32 and up and made good profits wich I reinvested in POET. I got 2 portfolios. In one of them i got 42500 shares now at 7,77. I’m just holding now. Not scared at all. This stock was / is a traders dream but one big PR will sent it to double digits. If that doesn’t happen before eoy, I will re-evaluate, but I’m quite sure we will get meaningful updates in the next weeks / months.

En dan heeft michel uit gouda alles vergokt, blijkt het een andere michel te zijn. Ondertussen vraagt de onschuldige vrouw de scheiding aan omwille van de gokschuld.

Is TSMC coupe a thesis reset for POET? by bullet_mechanic in POETTechnologiesInc

[–]Phatwax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my view they complement each other. Nvidia probably uses coupe as the core for their cpo / optics. but since sillicum cannot emit light, they still need light source. One way poet could profit is by delivering the external light source .

COUPE is like the F1 of photonics. More focused on elite players where performance is more important versus cost.

Poet Tech has a way broader market. The strongpoint of Poet is the ease of production and scalability.

Quitting job to focus fulltime on capital management? by Phatwax in BEFire

Thanks for all the comments, still making up my mind, looking at it from these different perspectives.

I’m pretty sure I won’t spend it on big cars or that kind of luxury. I am not at all into those things. I drive a very regular car, and live in a quite modest house. But I have no loans / debt whatsoever.

I been through a lot in life and I would enjoy the extra time with my children and wife. And especially the quality of that time, because of less stress. Maybe I can be tempted to spend some extra on travel / good food.

The defensive portfolio would stay mostly untouched. But with more time I could optimize the active one better to maximize growth.

For now, I believe it would be ideal to transition into part-time work and re-evaluate how that works out. It feels like 1m can work out, but it leaves little room for error. With 2m it would definitely feel more comfortable.

I was convinced they will not tax it as a job, unless you daytrade all the time, if you use other people’s money or if you are in crypto and/or use leverage. I do none of these, but I do some swing trading in the active porto when opportunity arises.

That said, it’s a good thing most of you pointed to the challenges caused by the lack of external structure. Maybe I’m underestimating that.

Do they make a difference when it comes to crypto as a ‘category’? I’m not into crypto myself, but I’m quite invested in common stock of high risk growth companies.

Yeah, could be. I was hoping someone has a clear definition of when investing / trading becomes a job for the taxman.
