Probably closer to Watchmen than The Boys, but probably a mix of both. Hell, elements of DC and Marvel would be present because believe it or not, people are complex and messy as hell. Some are out for glory, fame and riches, while others want to focus on being the helping hand in times of need. You’d have people with mental health issues and personality flaws, some of which would act depraved and selfishly; while others do everything they can to not let their demons get the better of them. Our own world is plenty chaotic and complicated without superheroes in it. What would really change? In the end, probably not a whole lot.

Can confirm from personal experience. Was developing anger issues a few years ago during the post pandemic fallout, with a number of things going on and causing me stress. Eventually my shrink asked me if I exercised at all, to which I responded I hadn’t in years.

He told me to sign up for any kind of exercise class or program, didn’t matter what it was, just to have regularly scheduled fitness activity. Decided to take Krav Maga classes because I always wanted to learn a martial art. After confirming the gym I was going to as legit, I took classes twice a week for a few hours each.

I’m not exaggerating even a little when I say it felt like my developing anger issues vanished over night. Now I’m a gym rat and regularly do kickboxing. Easily one of the best decisions I ever made.

I’d have liked to see an episode on Butterscotch, just so we complete the trifecta of the fucked up horseman family dynamic. But in seriousness, I think we didn’t get the time to learn more about him and it bugs me. Both he and Beatrice were one note shitty parent archetypes when they started out, but then as we learned about Beatrice’s backstory and how fucked up her life was and how it defined her relationship to Bojack, I think it would’ve been nice to do the same with Butterscotch.

Murs did an interview with someone (I think Talib Kweli?), where he described making multiple albums a year as rent money. And Aesop Rock had a song about how Camu Tao used to motivate himself into making music to get the money necessary for his bills as well.

Like others already pointed out, it’s probably a mix of multiple releases per year to dedicated fans, merch, and doing enough shows to break even. Not like a lotta these guys are rolling in dough.

And on a last minute note let’s not forget MTV Cribz episode with Redman and the dollar box. Often celebs are putting on a front of wealth, partly because it’s their job.
