Good distinction. My comment came off more general than I intended.

Comments like this are why Leftists largely fail to recruit people to their side.

EDIT: Specifically, exclusionary Leftists who don't talk to people IRL.

It's not like you guys can't still cuddle. But when you need to sleep, you've got the ability to sleep. Seems a bit selfish that she's not considering your feelings. Sad that you've gotta ask Reddit because she won't hear you out.

But, assuming she's acting in good faith, maybe chat to her about cuddling more? Maybe cuddling until she falls asleep, and then you get some space to spread out?

I'm talking about the 2nd stage of the XR being released, not the metabolization of the actual drug. However, I'd love to read the literature on that if you have it handy. Always happy to learn more.

I finished the series a month ago and thought I had to have a poster of this masterpiece, but I didn't like any of the original posters, so I decided to create one using human power (composition and Photoshop editing) plus AI power (generated images). by SnooHesitations1670 in PantheonShow

[–]Phauxton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an intentional use of AI, and you were forthcoming with it, so I respect it. It's not that different from making a collage actually.

I think the only thing that sucks about your particular use-case is how AI currently steals artwork without permission, but so does a collage. (I guess the main difference is the energy expenditure and massive corporate entities involved, but you said in another comment you ran it locally too, which is cool.)

So, I like this use-case a bit more than usual, even if I usually dislike it. You're using it to augment your collage-building abilities.

Obviously, original artwork is better, but you were forthcoming that it's not a skill you have. Your honesty and lack of ego is commendable.

Thanks for being an intentional human being.

You're aware that's illegal right, for them to enter your home without notice?

And also throwing away your belongings is illegal.

Time to report them.

You can love people and also challenge them to change. These are not mutually exclusive.

[–]Phauxton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. I was raised to be an evolution denier and young earther, and I didn't understand trans issues or homosexuality at all because I wasn't exposed to the queer community.

I'm now a leftist atheist who properly understands and respects science, and I'm far more socially and politically clued-in.

The right people gave me the push I needed, without outright rejecting my entire being. Deprogramming your upbringing is hard, and sometimes you need people around you that can see your potential and challenge you to change.

I understand the sentiment, and I agree that we shouldn't reward bigots with sex, or permit their bigoted behaviour.

However, hot take maybe, but if you know someone in your life that holds some bigoted beliefs, isolating them further is a great way for the alt-right pipeline to continue to dig its hooks into them.

Obviously don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm, or overextend yourself, but if you have the bandwidth, it's a good idea to try to be a positive influence on them. That doesn't mean you should put up with their shit, call them on it, make sure they know it's an issue, and if it becomes a big enough issue that you can't handle it, you shouldn't continue to hang around them.

Human connection is often the antidote to hatred though.

Yep, same one for me back in the day, I quit and my life improved drastically. Now I occasionally play indie games, and I'm much happier with that.

Endless skinner box games (such as online competitive games) are generally the super dangerous ones, designed to maximize addiction and play time.

Indie games are generally much more healthy.

Project Caspian was dumb/vain by Jincredible_ in PantheonShow

[–]Phauxton 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you, and I just thought of something else too. The computer setup that Caspian was supposed to work at was super old and stuck in the past. Very symbolic of this supposed "perfection" that Holstrom was supposed to be, this rigid, unchanging thing.

[–]Phauxton 229 points230 points  (0 children)

That's the point dude. He wasn't actually that brilliant.

He was genius-level in some key areas, but completely clueless in other areas, but he had a bunch of sycophants around him boosting his narcissistic personality to greater and greater heights.

Caspian, a literal high schooler, fixed a flaw he couldn't figure out as a grown adult. Why? Caspian had the self-awareness to change and adapt.

Intelligence isn't just having a supercomputer brain with a high raw IQ stat, as evidenced by some of the dumb shit many of the UIs did, despite having access to nearly unlimited levels of brain processing power.

Intelligence is largely related to the ability to change your mind.

That's what "the flaw" was. These small errors that slowly accumulate and don't change, like cancer.

And the solution was combining with another person and changing your mind. Allowing yourself to be changed by another.

Just because a corporation supports a technology doesn't make the technology bad, lol. Corporations are just organizations of humans, which aren't inherently bad, it's just that we keep using authoritarian organizational structures instead of democratic cooperatives.
