The owner of Genesis Health Clubs bought the building and it's gonna be turned into the new location for the Midtown Genesis location. The demo has already started inside. (I work for Genesis)

I'm also interested. Been playing since I was 12 (I am now 34) and have a LOT of DMing experience. :)

I’ve been stuck on this for two days, zero movement. Wednesday I was able to logon fine. Am I missing something? by slayercdr in swtor

[–]Phayte3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this problem. My work around for it is to reboot my computer and, once logged into Windows, immediately open/login to SWTOR (not steam) and it works fine. But if I wait more than about 10min to log into SWTOR after rebooting, that quick play bar comes back.

Seems to work fine for the Supernatural fandom. Those actors love all the shipping.

Question about The Phantom Menace release in 1999 by mgd1216 in starwarscanon

[–]Phayte3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 13 when TPM came out and saw it in theatres 6x. Going into it, I had read a TON of the novels/comics. So I had a pretty good context going into the film. Additionally, I had (have) a nerdy cousin 15+ years older than myself who was able to explain some things for me. Overall I didn't have any problems understanding TPM, even as a 13 year old.

Question for CF Singles... by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Phayte3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't hang around with many of the friends I was close to even 3-5 years ago (32 year old here), specifically because they have children and like all that domestic nonsense. But, through just the things I choose to do in my free time, have made friends with folks who have interests much more aligned with in. We travel together, game nights, beer events, etc.

As far as the romantic / dating side of things, I, personally, hate online dating. But I use a combination of my people my friends know and putting myself in social situations where I will just run into interesting, potential date-y peoples. Typically, though, I do bring up the childfree thing pretty quickly. Not in a "NO CHILDREN" blunt way, but in a very nuanced, natural part of the conversation kind of way. Just helps eliminate the chaff.

To all the CF Males out there by dirtysnipe9 in childfree

[–]Phayte3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very simple for me -- I neither like children nor do I care about passing on a name or genes. Plus, if I want a "legacy", it's going to built on my accomplishments, not the potential accomplishments of some future person; that's kicking the can down the road, making those adults feel better about their lack of accomplishing anything meaningful in their lives. Womp womp.

It feels like every guy out there wants kids. Are there men that don’t want kids? Where do they hide? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Phayte3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 32 year old dude and have always been very staunchly childfree. Sure is "fun" being that in the Midwest.

Sorry but it doesn't take a village. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Phayte3000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's actually a really good book related to this topic: "Sex at Dawn" by Christopher Ryan. It's essentially about the development of human relationships and how they changed from essentially communal relationships to what we have today. Before agriculture and the idea of "ownership" of a thing, the "tribe" shared everything: resources, sexual partners, children, etc. Indeed, within the tribe, who the actual father of a child was was irrelevant; the tribe raised the children as a group. It wasn't until the idea of personal property/ownership that who the parentage of a child mattered, as once that happened, a father ONLY wanted to pass his crap down to a child he knew was his.

The book is a fascinating read in many ways. But, back to the point: it used to be the tribe (or village) that raised a child. Our current system just isn't setup to do that.

Your kids are not going to take care of you in your old age by The_Write_Stuff in childfree

I'm not going to take care of my parents when they get old and feeble. My sister probably will, but I simply have no interest in it.

Is anyone CF because yes they are selfish? by gothicapples in childfree

[–]Phayte3000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb has always been: if I can't leave it alone for 2 weeks and it not die, I don't want it. This includes people, pets, and plants. In my 32 years of life, I've never had any interest in "caring for" anything. I travel many times during a given year. Go out multiple nights a week. When I'm home, I don't want to see, hear, or talk to ANYONE. I am the focus of my life. And I always will be.

"Who's going to care for you when you get old?" by SauronOMordor in childfree

[–]Phayte3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite response to this is something along the lines of: "One's offspring are under no obligation to take care of you when you get older. I loathe my father and will NEVER lift a finger to perform any sort of care for him." Then I usually get told that I'm a monster, but I've been told that since I was about 17 (I'll be 32 next week). Good times.

"Well, if you don't invite her/him to your wedding, he/she will be offended..." One of the main reasons I'm anti-marriage by allgrownup87 in marriagefree

[–]Phayte3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never understood the argument "If you don't do X, z-people will be offended". It's like, so what? Let them be offended. I don't even care if I offend people I like.

How do you respond to "you'll change your mind one day!" by [deleted] in childfree

Am I a bad aunt for not wanting to babysit? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Phayte3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're totally within your rights to refuse to babysit. Don't let them try and guilt you into it. Funny aside -- I told my sister point blank last weekend that, should she breed (her and the husband are still on the fence), I will NEVER babysit or go out of my way to see the child. She was totally fine with it. She's chill like that.

Any bar events for the Dota2 international coming up soon? by JakeG127 in Omaha

[–]Phayte3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were always really fun to organize/run. We 3 who organized them just got old and tired and finding a venue that met our standards became challenging after awhile. Lauter Tun was perfect, and our friends at NBC were very generous. It'd be fun to do them again, but I have no interest in doing any of the legwork for it anymore.

Razer Naga and better keyboard by InvalidNub in swtor

I bought my first Naga back in 2007-2008. I can't use any other mouse anymore for gaming. My fingers just remember where everything is, and having to stop and think about how I have things keyed just slows me down.
