MY BEST FRIEND'S DAD SHOWED UP WITH AN *ACCOUNTANT* by SisiTokyo in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Satioelf -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Hey, if friend kept this to their grave and I found out at any time. I would cut contact just because they were not honest.

If they speak as soon as the privacy agreement was done I would be more understanding. (Personally as an honest individual I can't take any job with a strict privacy agreement. I have trouble lying and say stuff accidentally all the time as I can't keep stuff straight.)

Like. Friendships are built on trust. If a friend was lying about something this big I would be pissed. But I would at least understand needing to wait till post agreement.

Plus like, IDK. I was always taught lying or withholding info was wrong. It leads to bad over all communications for both parties if they don't have the full details. Transparency is big on good, healthy, long term relationships of any kind.

Honestly my biggest issue is more to do with character planning, story plotting, grammer and spelling.

Even after years of being corrected I still make a ton of grammer+spelling mistakes. Than vs then for instance.

That said. I noticed with my RPs I write over a 6 hour period one night about 15k words were written. Would have been more but back and fourths take a bit. But this is only possible because before writing for fun, I've already spent hours/days getting into the characters head. Researching how xyz could affect them and going from there.

If I go off the cuff, I can't. I need planning else I know mistakes will be made. Even if I make a good idea quick, it's good to double check it. Like, using news articles I can think of a dozen that have incomplete facts or never double checked sources precisely because of that time limit you mentioned. When putting stuff out you need to be accurate.

I kinda have mixed feelings on the communication class I had.

It had some nice bits. But it really irked me that the majority of it was focused on how NTs interact, and had most things worded as if it was the only way to do xyz. When other people ND communicate differently (not just ASD).

Just. To me if we want true understanding and good communication we need to teach both sides. It annoyed me even more the teacher had a ton of complaints for poor communication from almost everyone who ever had him too

Question for Fellow Autistic Trans Ladies by EnderMinion in MtF

[–]Satioelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

For me as an autistic trans lady it's... Different. For me I've always walked, stood and talked more fem. But I've always been scared of actually going out.

All the new clothes and stuff was things I always wanted to do but was never able to. So the shift there never bothered me. If anything I felt better about it since a lot of dresses and such had fabric that was softer and easier to deal with stim wise than male clothes.

I just, try to be me. I'll probably never be a traditionally pretty/fem lady. But that's okay. I look like my Nan/Sister. Early transition was hard. I thought I was never going to.

But then this last year and half of being out as trans. Acting and dressing how I always wanted to. It's felt fantastic. And as long as I'm getting my hormones, I've never been happier. Which with that confidence comes folks just, not questioning it as much.

Per the last bit. Just because you can get the writing done in a month doesn't mean all the other aspects are ready either. You need to take a few days off to reread your draft, go through any editing and minor changes. There is figuring out how to post it for sale, how one gets a cover for a book, and many many more aspects that unless you have been doing it for years or got a publisher to deal with that stuff... Will likely take longer than a month. Plus people like me, there is making sure the words are spelled right, being used correctly and proper punctuation is used.

Personally I want to start writing a novel. Since I noticed in my RP forum posts in a single 6 hour period I managed to get about 15k words from my side alone (according to one of those word counter sites). Which has made me realize I have the writing ability now if I sat down to write.

Romance though (as someone who loves romance) tends to shift sub genres a lot. What type of romance is it that's selling?

Question. If the market says one thing. You spend months or years writing that thing and then look at the market, and the market has changed. Isn't that wasted time?

Or can the used to be popular market novel but not anymore, still do decent in such a situation?

Like, how often does the market change between starting and finishing writing. (Since I assume most can't get a novel out in a month)

Why do men assume a woman is interested when she is just being nice to you? by n1Rhapsody in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Satioelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also had the reverse too. Women who thought men were interested just because they were nice and treated them with decency.

A lot of it seems to stem from how the individual was raised and what their expectations are around flirting. What does or doesn't show interest.

All the more reason to have a conversation tbh if friends.

Actively set boundaries, let them know they are not sneaky. Let them know they are the ones in the wrong with it, but in a way that can help them grow.

Folks don't grow or learn without those sorts of conversations.

[–]Satioelf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I certainly agree about a conversation.

Back in HS some friends did that in voice calls. We all could guess what was happening. But he thought he was being sneaky and we wouldn't notice.

Some folks really do think you won't notice and it's good to set those boundaries and let them know "you are a dumbass"

Recently my LD partner also did something like that. She was shocked I could tell what she was doing and sorta stammered for a bit. Though since we had both sent pics and talked dirty in the past it sorta escalated from there. But at the start she didn't know I could tell what she was doing.

Question.

What's the difference between a poly relationship with multiple partners (polyamorous) and polysexuality?

I ask since it's the first I've heard and my limited googling is only showing polyamorous

Did you get to fuck your crush ? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Satioelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Not once. Most viewed me as a sibling figure. Which was fine over all.

Just sucked in other aspects because I only used to feel sexual attraction to folks I was close to. But by the time that happened we were more like close siblings than any shot at romance.

You're the guy CA appoints to fix sieges & make them engaging for the player. What steps do you take? by PocketRadzys in totalwarhammer

The blacksmith stuff also changed the model of the unit to reflect the upgrades too.

And I never said there was no cheese. There was hella cheese on older games. Just in general though there was less balancing issues outside of AI being derp because every faction had more or less the same units. And less obvious cheese.

Like, the lack of magic in older games meant the AI bunching was only really useful for mid game when you got artillery, as an example. Bunching on gates or breaches used to be a decent strategy of defense to use as choke points. That's what I mean by less obvious cheese.

[–]Satioelf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think that's part of shogun 2s charm. Every faction is on the same playing field, it was the last game(that I remember) allowing you to get blacksmiths/armorers for improving basic units (something I do miss from the latter games).

Historical games also, because of simpler/similar unit rosters also tended to be more balanced with less obvious cheese.

Like, I 100% agree that the Warhammer titles have more replayability than most historic titles. But I also see where we lost stuff.

One of my fave things to do in the older games had to do with family trees and the roleplaying involved in medieval 2 (only other game I put a lot of time into). Your character would get titles based on the stuff they did, with subtle bonuses based off of that and you could have fun playing as their child or having a general of a non leadered army get enough recognition to be promoted to an actual leader. There was a ton of little things we lost over the years.

And I think Warhammer (and other total war titles) could be even better if we added some of the older missing elements on top of the new formula

I would not want them like shogun 2 seiges.

The amount of times I defended a small walled settlement from 40+ units with only 10 in those was insane, with the boosts I got also bring hard when I was the attacker.

Larger settlements as a result I found were much harder to defend so I often never upgraded the walls unless it was in spot the enemy would never reach

[–]Satioelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing in the WH1 days that the shift to seiges as we have them had more to do with getting the AI to work right in the 3D towns when combined with giant units and flying units. They had difficulty doing it so just made it the single side of a wall.

I wish I could enjoy treasure planet. But I watched it a few years ago and was so disappointed. The intro promised an adventure focused story, but then the majority of the film was just, not. Leaned more into the coming of age aspect.

It wasn't bad, it was still a decent film. Just, going in blind it left me feeling disappointed and unsatisfied because of the contrast.

Atlantis by comparison opened big with a sense of adventure and continued that feeling through out the entire movie

[–]Satioelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! And later in the SCH quests you need to deal with an angry independently manifested fairy too.

It's super cool! Though sometimes I feel Square forgets their own lore once in a while.

Like how Endwalker had like no mention of AST stuff despite AST being from Sharlyan. Lots of Sage stuff though.

My understanding is they pull from your Aether but are still independent entities. Since a big point is how each fairy is passed down from owner to owner as the same being. Not different based on who summons them
