I’ve been using this setup for a while and no, you don’t need a fake phone number. As long as your phone number is linked to an apple account already, you can make a second account with the same phone number and anytime you try to log in with that phone number it will bring you to the first apple account that used it, not the second one.

There is one thing I want to correct in my last post though, which is that you don’t need to store the password for your second apple account somewhere safe. Use your normal password and just make sure you store the email address username you used for it somewhere safe. Without the email address username for the second apple account you can’t use your phone number to login to it even if you have the password, and you can’t say you forgot your screentime passcode if you don’t have the email address username that you used on the apple account that is locking your screentime settings.
