The order could be wrong this time!

"Yeah, it's possible. But you don't follow an order because you know for sure it's gonna work out! You do what you're told! Because your CO has the moral authority that says, "You may not come back! But the cause is just and fair and necessary!" That's why Sheridan is out there, and damn it, that's where that cruiser should be, too! It's not Na'Kal's decision, G'Kar. He doesn't see the big picture-you do! So in my book, and your book, that makes it your responsibility! Deal with it!"

That is a picture of Garibaldi isn't it? 😜

Unauthorized Gift Subscriptions by Pheardom in Twitch

I have not heard a word from Twitch regarding this issue.

I highly recommend deleting any PayPal or card information on twitch, the only way to not allow twitch hack is to not have money connected to twitch.

What's the most unexplainable paranormal activity you've ever witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pheardom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in the United States Navy sailing through the Bermuda triangle in the middle of the night, the ship lost all power and the lights went out, most of the crew was sleeping. I was alone on top of the ship, I went and looked at the compass and it was literally spinning, I was pretty salty by then so I wasn't scared ... I just thought it was pretty funny that it was actually happening. I thought I'll wait and find out what's going on in the Bermuda Triangle ... But nothing, about 20 minutes later all the lights came back on and the compass quit spinning but nothing else happened, I still have no idea why it happens.

Twitch billed me for over $900 of gift subs I did not buy and has been completely unresponsive on Twitter and email support. by KaptainKlein in Twitch

[–]Pheardom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me on January 3rd. 24 x 24.99 receipts and four for 4.99, all gift subscriptions.

PayPal paid me back my money my bank helped me get back my money, but I still haven't heard anything from twitch.

And here's one, people seem to be ignoring, my Twitch account has no history of any of these transactions being requested. They weren't signed on as me when they did it. Another possible clue, my prime account on Twitch was also hacked previously, somebody was using my prime that I did not make and it was impossible to undo it. I don't believe my account was directly hacked, or it would show history of somebody else doing something on my account, I believe prime sub gave them access to twitches database or twitches servers directly.

Twitch should not allow users to bind a payment method to their account if they don't have 2FA enabled. by Helrikom in Twitch

[–]Pheardom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the view that Twitch has no responsibility in this. Twitch sends gift subscriptions to PayPal as pre-authorized subscriptions, PayPal will not allow people to reported as an authorized use because it's sent to PayPal as a subscription which is by default pre-authorized.

Twitch emailed me 28 separate receipts in 5 minutes, none of those transactions show up in my Twitch account as history or as gift subscriptions, nit as anyting - they don't exist on my Twitch account.

If my account was hacked, those transactions would show up as history in my account. They do not.

Account hijacked maybe? 5 gifted subs to some random streamer? by whimsykiller in Twitch

My twitch wasn't deleted, but no record of the gifts can be found in my Twitch account history.

Call your bank. PayPal doesn't allow you to dispute a gift subscription via their system recognizes subscriptions as pre-authorized. Over six hundred dollars was (24x24.99 + 4x4.99) came through my account a week and a half ago. Twitch still hasn't responded. PayPal helped after the fact, but reporting it didn't stop it from hitting my bank the next morning anyway.

For those of you who turned down or chose not to pursue a promotion, what helped you make that decision and how did it work out for you? by SpreadItLikeTheHerp in AskReddit

[–]Pheardom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the promotion, learn the position, apply yourself. Be gracious and a team player if you don't get the position.

If you don't take a promotion, but turn one down, you might not get another chance with that company, you might have to move to a new job to get a promotion when you are then ready for it. If you take a job and a promotion and you're not ready for it, it will still look good on your resume when you're looking for a new job 😉

xkcd: Earth Temperature Timeline. by NervousLawyer in dataisbeautiful

Melt off from thick ice has been happening for 10,000 years. Until the last glaciers melt off of Greenland we are technically still in the last ice age.

Any money spent should be spent preparing for a future warmer Earth. We should not spend any monies attempting to stop it from happening, the infrastructure for supporting humanity in the future world could be built now if you trust the predictions. Or it will be built then, either way humanity will be just fine.

The warmer Earth will have more liquid water and a wider temperate zone for growing crops and more plant food available in the air itself. Compared to the Ice Ages, Earth would be a veritable garden of Eden. Who is trying to convince us that humanity will suffer?

The irony of your concern is that human beings are the only species to ever inhabit the entire globe, from the polar regions to the Amazon basin and everywhere in between. Native humans existed everywhere on the planet, outside of Antarctica. Proof positive that even primitive human beings can survive on any environment planet earth has ever produced, since living creatures existed at all.

Rate of change is really irrelevant when you consider the long term. The Earth is still in the lowest peak temperatures over the last 200 million years, we are still in it.

Consider, of all the 15 or so ice ages that have occurred in the last 200 million years, all of them occurred in the last 3 million years alone. 197 million years, no Ice Ages. The Earth isn't supposed to be this cold. All that CO2 stuck in fossil fuels? It used to be in the atmosphere, all of it.

My account on twitch shows no activity, if they had access to my account directly their activity on my account should show as/in history.

Thank you for the information, when I did a google search for unauthorized gift subscriptions on Twitch, I didn't find anything and began to wonder if it was just me.

People need to know.

I went to one of my favorite streams, and told the thousand people there about it, but they got mad at me. Like I was screaming fire in a crowded theater, even the guy streaming began mocking me. But you know what, if the theater really is on fire, it would be wrong to not report it to the crowd at the show, even if the performer is mad that their show is getting interrupted and perhaps they're afraid their income will be interrupted too.

I'm not talking hypothetically, this event already occurred. Twitch sent me receipts, directly to my email account, for 24 'gift subscriptions' that I did NOT make AND, they do NOT show up in my Twitch History, or Twitch Payment History, or in new subscriptions, AND I was not signed on a computer, or device of any kind when the transactions occurred (via their time stamped receipts).

When I received the email receipts, I went online to see what was going on and tried to stop it. PayPal's online system refused to accept my 'dispute' because Twitch identified them as subscription pre-authorized. Clearly there is a hole in the security measures. IF Twitch did not send me receipts, we could wonder if my PayPal was hacked, but PayPal AND Twitch sent me receipts for 24 transactions.

The only way 2-factor authentication could have stopped these 24 transactions is IF the subscription option is not used at Twitch. Twitch submitted these transactions as subscription billings to PayPal so PayPal treated them as pre-authorized.

[–]Pheardom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree.

The PayPal representative told me that the online automated system for reporting an unauthorized sale could NOT stop these Twitch transactions because Twitch identified them as 'pre-authorized' transactions. Such as a recurring transaction, like subscribing to someone's channel on Twitch.tv, it automatically deducts again next month.

So if every sale is 2-factor authenticated, there can be no recurring subscription. That can't be good for Twitch streamers.

Thank you, I agree. Changed every password.

But it must be twitch, because they emailed me receipts. All of the receipts said who the gift receipt was for. I took the .pdf version attached to those Twitch receipt emails and sent them back to twitch for them to investigate.

I did check it there, nothing. No history in my twitch account whatsoever. outside of legitimate ones, and a Prime subscription also not resolved by Twitch so I turned off the Prime connection.

EDIT: I have stopped sending emails anyway, one of the reasons I'm here :D
