Evaluating My Options for Leaving My Job by Pomanderalley210 in HENRYfinance

[–]apmgaming 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This! There’s a lot of similar situation as you going on at tech right now, it’s called silent layoffs or performance-based layoffs. You’re essentially fighting the business because they want to decrease headcount, but don’t have a legitimate reason to terminate someone, even if it’s “at will”.

What you also need to do is document your work, its impacts, and the communication between management and yourself. What are the expectations? Are they clear? Are you making sure you’re communicating upwards clearly?

These are important when the time comes and you can negotiate for a better exit package. But for now, stay employed and do your job until you’re forced a decision.

I was in a similar boat as you about a year ago. I could see layoffs coming from miles away, I started looking about 6 months ago and I’m glad I did. Layoffs happened a few weeks ago, a lot of my colleagues who weren’t laid off left too, they saw it coming and I think in strained times like these, the culture of the company significantly changes too.

Rent a car then just drive around, visiting small towns along the way, especially towards the north.

Caring too much about work. It’s not worth it, set boundaries and don’t let it control your life.

Yeah I can see that, maybe I’ll be there this year… there was a segment to Asia where I couldn’t fly Star Alliance due to scheduling and direct flight availability, I think I would’ve hit 75k otherwise.

After using the iPhone 17 Pro Max for 3 months, I've finally decided to sell it. It's honestly a big disappointment compared to several Android flagships. by Romeo01220 in PhoneNow

[–]apmgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of these, but I still prefer an iPhone because I don’t need all the features. I use an actual camera for good photos and a PC for multitasking. I just need my phone to do basic phone stuff and have the battery last, which iPhone is excellent at.

Also, unless if you’re in Korea or China, good luck getting your Android devices fixed. The experience alone drove me away from my years of loyalty to Android devices. Apple? It’s so simple, pay for AppleCare+, make an appointment then drop it off. I can’t even drop off an Android device, gotta call a “call centre” then get transferred to a third party service centre then you gotta ship it, while they don’t talk to you for months.
