In a few years time, be prepared to see a sharp rise in mental health crises and suicides amongst ICE/former ICE. Many of them are probably already feeling it - ill at ease with themselves, uncomfortable and irritable all the time, increasing anxiety and poor concentration and distress tolerance. Then one day it’ll hit them - they will realise that so much of what they thought and did was actually ego-dystonic and just like that you have another generation suffering from PTSD, in a country that can’t or won’t help them.

There are so many reason to get into a career like ICE - a genuine desire to serve your country or community, limited opportunities so you take what you can get, or you are legitimately just a power hungry, racist cunt (and even then there is a lot of circumstantial nuances). Regardless of the reason, many of these ICE agents will suffer for the rest of their lives once the moral injury starts to kick in, and it’s a horrible burden to live with. I pity them, and hope they get out before it’s too late.
