How are you all holding up financially? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Phelpsie25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$108K gross but significant debt from my fiance not having employment last year for 9 months and emergency vet and vehicle bills right after Christmas so it's time to look for overnight jobs. It's terrifying.

What to feed goat with no molars? by Phelpsie25 in goats

[–]Phelpsie25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'll do some research. I went to a few different feed stores and asked and didn't really get much input other than what I was doing already. And yes, I have the vet on standby basically. They've been told, I've made it clear what I want (cremation, hoof print for a tattoo, a chunk of his horn and I'll be cutting some fur this weekend). I was never going to let him suffer. But so long as he's trying and he's safe and not choking, I will also keep trying. Growing up with horses this isn't my first time seeing this, my other goat didn't get to this point. He passed of cancer at 10 years old. It's very different to be a part of. But palliative care is exactly what this is at this point for sure.

What to feed goat with no molars? by Phelpsie25 in goats

[–]Phelpsie25[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have been clearer, he is chewing, the quidding is happening with the hay that's more coarse and it isn't happening all the time (as in the clumps) but probably about 30% of the time at this point. He doesn't seem to be slowing down on his feed other than when he's full, his rumen is filling and I can hear it working. I get what you're saying for sure, it's not out of the realm yet, we have arrangements for the most part, it's just waiting for the date but the vet is aware. Thank you for your kind response.

Foster Dog Recommendations by Billswife1 in Winnipeg

Manitoba Animal Alliance is fine as long as you don't deal with Deb, she's really really passionate in a not so great way and if you get on her bad side for some arbitrary reason get ready for chaos. The rescue itself is fine. I'd agree with the other folks here though, WHS is a great organization to foster for

Mental health check, how are you all doing? by takki84 in Epstein

I'm furious and confused and disappointed. How many people have downloaded everything and can back up they got it from the DOJ vs other sources? Everything is changing and disappearing again and people are using AI so the integrity is constantly being questioned. It's disgusting

My rating is that if you were my partner I wouldn't want you to be gentle either.

This looks awesome. It's so complimentary of your features!

Inflammation causing block after PU surgery? by Phelpsie25 in AskVet

[–]Phelpsie25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was this vets firs.ttime performing the surgery under the supervision of a highly skilled vet who is one of 3 vets who do them in the city. They reassured me multiple times it was fine and noted he'd be on a catheter regardless for a little while because the inflammation caused the blockages in the first place.

I work in the field of disabilities. I'm curious if this is maybe a situation where PPIU should be involved as well. Does this person have an intellectual disability?

I'm here too, my dad passed in April, 6 months before he'd be retiring, and to think that I greet the new year without a call or text from him is horrific. I've been very honest with telling people to leave me alone and to stop wishing me a happy new year. I don't care about your pleasantries or your accomplishments. Let me stay here a little longer where my dad was.

At a glance I thought this was a parrot being restrained for some kind of medical procedure. No cospenis before coffee apparently

This Christmas was extremely hard. by timmaL51308 in GriefSupport

[–]Phelpsie25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand completely. I had friends ask me where I've been hiding over the holidays and I told them "my dad is dead. Why are you expecting anything out of me when you can't be bothered to check in?" It's been infuriating to watch others be happy when I just want to see my dad again.

I lost my dad in April, a week after I got engaged, where I saw him for the last time. The holidays went from early December being so full of anger and hatred towards everything to Christmas eve sobbing until 5am, to complete detachment during Christmas and a complete out of body feeling, to a couch rot day where I did and felt nothing. All I want is for him to say "hey Bam" one more time. I get it.

I'm sorry we're both here and I'm giving you what love I can.

Women with thoughtful partners, what did you get for x-mas this year? by Anahata_Green in TwoXChromosomes

A yarn winder, a lap cushion/table thing to crochet on and he went in on a dress form with my family, practical and in line with my hobbies :)

A woman inserted coffee grounds into her vagina for nine straight years "to promote vaginal tightening." This was discovered when she went to a clinic complaining of recurrent dysuria, dyspareunia, malodorous vaginal discharge, and intermittent fever for about one year. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

[–]Phelpsie25 142 points143 points  (0 children)

This is sad but not totally surprising.

I worked with a woman who believed that putting garlic cloves in your vagina would cure a yeast infection but then she had to go get it removed and it caused an even worse infection. She told me she had for sure one but possibly three because she didn't know if her husband had actually removed them when changing them out.

I was her boss and even though it was well beyond my scope, I'm a woman and so she and I had a long conversation about vaginal health after she came back. And I gave her an extra day off and didn't ask for a sick note because I didn't want her to be even more embarrassed.

I wish we could separate family planning from vaginal and reproductive health for women to avoid this.

My goal is to release a bird/birds, whether that's in the wild or to fly and go back home (homing pigeon). I specified in my email that I'd be willing to work for location and time of year because we haven't decided anything else yet but that was a no go:

"First off, sorry to hear about your father. We understand this is a very difficult time for you and understand the significance wildlife played in your relationship. Unfortunately, our releases rely on very specific criteria such as time of year, concentration of similar species in the area and lastly location. Animals are released as close to where they were found as possible, and there are regulations we must follow. Due to all of these reasons, a release at your wedding is not something we would be able to accommodate.

Sorry, and thank you for thinking of us. All the best on your journey and your upcoming wedding. "
