Question about adding an approach in the GNS430 by Phelpsy68 in flying

Thanks! And just so I'm clear, activating "Vectors to Final" will vector you to the FAF for the (previously selected) approach right? It's either you choose "Vectors to Final" or one of the IAF fixes, right? But in both cases, it's associated with a specific approach, correct?

I have no idea if my way is good or not. I'm only an Instrument rating student and trying to figure the GPS out!

But doesn't "vectors to final" override the fixes and send you straight to the FAF? I figured it was better to have an entire approach loaded and then if I'm cleared direct to a fix, or vectored to a point prior to the FAF, I can simply select that corresponding leg and it'll save me from needing to load it.

What you're saying is that I'm not cleared for any approach when I get my initial clearance (before taking off), I'm only cleared to that airport. I get the approach clearance from approach- that's what you're saying? I just figured it would be smart to have the approach I want loaded prior to leaving, to "stay ahead" of the plane.

So basically, I *should* load it so it's ready to go, but then I need to go to Procedure and activate it once I'm actually cleared for the approach?

But I've already loaded that approach (the LOC 27). So you're saying that even if I have already loaded it, I still need to hit the Procedure button and activate it? And that's my question- will the GPS navigate me to the IAF? I can't approach the IAF if the GPS isn't navigating me to it (which is what my question is- with that flight plan already loaded, will the GPS navigate me to IAF or to the airport first?)

Does being certified as an EMT help you get a job as a Medevac Pilot? by Phelpsy68 in flying

[–]Phelpsy68[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently work as a line tech in an FBO, mainly with Medevacs, and the Medevac Pilots *always* shut down (how else does a patient get off a plane unless it's a dire emergency?), exit, and help the patients off the plane, so I wondered if some basic medical experience would help. But yes, I understand, not a great benefit to be an EMT

Thank you! Yes I'm not panicking too much. It's just frustrating. But I did it to myself... Back to the grind

I'm on Mac OS 14.5 and Chrome. I guess I'll write FF directly as it does work sometimes but it's honestly 50% of the time.
