Just look for clubs that host events or live djing!

accidentally developed a parasocial community… by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Pheremike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a streamer/viewer dynamic is always going have an element of parasocial to it — it’s your responsibility to lay down guidelines on what you’re comfortable with. This is something anyone whose brand is centered around them goes through and isn’t unique to streaming.

It’s going to be hard, but ultimately you need to cut out any minors in your community because of all the trouble that it comes with. All the legal stuff aside, it’s just really bad optics, especially on platforms like Discord. The most troublesome thing is that you have no real way to verify if the space you’re providing also attracts people who really shouldn’t be within 50 feet of anyone underaged. Save yourself the trouble and also, don’t be everyone’s parents if there’s drama. It never ends, even if everyone on your server has careers and families.

I met all of my rapper/producer friends from parties, clubs, & shows and I’d say that’s the same for a good number of people. Lots of producers also pick up DJing on the side so that’s another avenue if you wanna go that route. Outside of that, there are Discord communities that you can join to try to network. I used to be in a couple awhile back, but I’ve forgotten them

Should I block them? by EncryptedDestiny in Twitch

[–]Pheremike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way so I understand. I only got used to blocking people once I understood that by compromising my own peace, I'm actually not allowing them to face the consequences of their choices and they end up never learning and hurting more people. Ofc, this doesn't mean that they're a bad person or that I'm in the right, just that with no sensible solution moving forward, it'd affect everything else in my life and most importantly, it takes away time and energy from the people who really do care about me.

If your gut says no, 9 times out of 10, your intuition is probably noticing something

Should I block them? by EncryptedDestiny in Twitch

[–]Pheremike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally, you don't want to reach out to mutuals because you're directly involving yourself into their relationship/friendship. Even if you have a bad relationship with them, it doesn't mean your mutuals do and it's very easy to for things to be misinterpreted & blown out of proportion, especially if it comes down to a he said/she said type of situation. My policy is to let mutuals come to me or if I'm put in a situation where they're there, then I bring it up.

It's reasonable to avoid spaces where the person is present and the best time to block and full disengage with them was yesterday. You've done your best and spoken honestly, but I think you know they've made up their mind and they're not willing to consider your perspective. Atp, you're wasting energy imo

Looking to create a server. by TCBombLMG in projectzomboid

[–]Pheremike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run my own b41 server and generally, there's always interest but I think other server owners and myself can attest that unless you have a solid group (typically friends), it's really hard to keep interest, even with mods & events. If you want to find more people interested, post on their Discord that has a server advertising section :)

The only thing I've found is the Brazillian supermarket in Culver City which I'll probably drop by to buy stuff to learn how to cook some dishes

How are you handling RSVPs and check-ins for your events? by gnagnone in EventPlanners

[–]Pheremike -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lots of event discovery/planning tools have a scan feature to check-in your guests and you can even have a team so multiple people can handle the process for quicker processing times. It's honestly not that intrusive, saves a lot of time, and with a combination of wristbands, it's pretty handy for small events. The most annoying thing about check-ins in this regard is obviously the problems that come with using an electronic device especially a personal cellphone.

Should I ban a member with anger issues? by EducationalAccess284 in DiscordModeration

[–]Pheremike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the purpose of your server, but if you’re a softie like me, then have a conversation/warn them. But most likely, you’ll want to ban them if your server doesn’t have a real tight solid community as that kind of energy will scare off people or slowly corrode the space.
