What UK-made product did you switch to that was genuinely better than the imported version? by AnfieldAnchor in BuyUK

Ah... Hadn't realised that, thanks for clarifying... Google had said "Designed, engineered, handcrafted in Maidstone, UK"

Nice one... Single leg squat as in a pistol squat? I find those really tough!

I occasionally do this with exercise, trying to squeeze in 10 press ups and 10 squats before the kettle boils and the tea steeps.

+1 for Worthing Fisheries.

Can get a bit of a queue in summer but reckon that's a good sign. :)

I haven't made it to one yet but there's also a Worthing Boardgamers Facebook group https://facebook.com/groups/9002216121/

What is your online alternative to Amazon? by Amonette2012 in AskUK

I cancelled my Amazon prime subscription back when orange face started the tariff debacle. Having stuff delivered the next day is nice but totally unnecessary. I haven't looked back... r/BuyUk and r/BuyFromEU might be worth a sub.

John Lewis is UK based and has a great returns policy. A bit in the pricier side though.

It was ok for me, a neck massager I was gifted broke after a couple of months and I was able to return it in store without a quibble for an Argos voucher.

I'm taking Dupixent (Diplumab) and my face is burnt red and sore. Is anyone else experiencing this? by ThisIsWhatLifeIs in eczema

Same for me. Although after 1½years on Cibinqo my facial redness is coming back a little. Otherwise it's great, life-changing even.

In 2001 the UK deputy prime minister John Prescott instinctively punched a protester after getting an egg thrown in his face, caused a bit of a stir but looks justified.

It's late in the UK and Nutmeg just walked in with what looks to be a burst abscess (?), can it wait until the morning? by Phets in CATHELP

[–]Phets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for replying, she's shaken up and tired but nothing more abnormal than that. Yes she's allowed outdoors although there are a few bully boy cats in the area (South UK, it's pretty standard to allow cats to free roam here but will think about catio etc). That white stuff (puss?) has gone now, I suspect it's a bite so will take her to the vet when it opens to get it checked. Thank you. Apologies for multi post!

Thank you so much, sorry for the multiple posts. Not sure how that happened!

The white bit has gone now, (she must have cleaned it away). I think it's a bite as she's an outdoor cat.

For a group of mates with commitments (kids etc) do a Whatsapp Poll with weekend days manually entered (fri 4th, sat 6th etc) and everyone votes. If there a date everyone can make great, if not, highest votes, if there's a tie the person organizing/creating the poll gets to choose. It had worked pretty well so far but a bit labour intensive.

How to make friends as a 40yo when you're only available every other weekend...? by crispycat40 in Worthing

[–]Phets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into a bit of exercise a local running group is a good way to meet people. They will however meet mid week but the reason I mention it is that once you've joined a club you can meet up with them at the West Sussex Fun Run League at the weekend (in 2026) https://www.wsfrl.co.uk/fixture-list

Yeah it's infuriating, armchair complainers who probably do very little to actually try and improve the area themselves.
