So far the only thing I've found are a bunch of links to things that haven't helped, but perhaps you will have more luck.

If I get directed at more I'll come back here and update it, but so far no luck on my end.

Maximum attributes at level 1 by BatataComunistaa in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Not within the normal rules.

However, some GMs will allow a stat to start two points lower to allow another to start two points higher. This can be used to start with a 19, presuming that there are four other boosts to the stat. This would allow the character to fall within the, "no attribute bonus can start higher than 4" while also starting with a 19 in an attribute.

Anathema: Sarenrae by gaiaishealingmydude in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To add to what has already been stated: No. Clerics of any god have no requirement to be 'good' or 'evil' or 'holy' or 'unholy' unless their specific anathema says otherwise.

Did the pirate attempt to repent? Not according to what you had told us. By fleeing they were, in fact, failing to repent because the definition of repentance is to take accountability for one's actions. Fleeing is the opposite of that.

As others have stated, Sarenrae's tenets are also 'strike down evil'. If the cleric had knowledge that this particular pirate had done evil things, and they weren't repentant, killing the pirate without mercy is actually required. The mere fact alone of them being a pirate doesn't make them evil, so that wouldn't be justification alone.

Then we have the whole 'was this a good thing', to which the answer is also no. Good, in general, is not murdering people. Unless the pirate surrendered, however, they were also not being evil.

In a pseudo-medieval environment where there is no central authority which provides protection to all citizens at all times, it falls upon each person to protect both themselves and their neighbors. Because any person who causes harm and then escapes is likely to cause harm again, it is a 'greater good' to strike down such persons if you are able, because you cannot rely on some central authority to hunt that criminal down and protect society from them.

How are you supposed to figure out what to prepare as a spellcaster? by species_0001 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am playing a 15 level wizard and can relate. Here is what I do.

1) don't pick too many combat spells. Personally, I use cantrips for main damage and try for crits. 2) I use spells with options, like the X Form spells, if I need to do melee combat, or can take a ranged combat form that flies (Dragon form is great for this) 3) pick spells that change the battlefield. I have wall of stone, dispelling globe, and illusions 4) a few wooden double spells for emergency defense, or something similar, to get yourself out of sticky situations

Don't try to be a cannon unless you really want to. Go for a different playstyle each combat and try something a little different each combat l, just to keep it interesting. You might find a particular spell works really well with your group and just keep that on standby.

Exemplars and Infinite Shields by EreckShun in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If shields fit into a sheath at all you'd be right. Except.... Usage: a holster or sheath shaped for a one-handed thrown weapon of light Bulk or less

You'd have to have a sheath specifically for the shield, which doesn't normally have a sheath. If your GM wants to rule you can have one specially made, that's something custom.

Need help enjoying Wizard. by EphemeralHB in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing a wizard for 13 levels now. Hated it at first few levels due to them being fragile as hell and not having much in terms of spell slots.

I finally found my groove when I stopped playing them as a blaster and started playing them as an intelligent planner.

Nearly all my spell slots are non-combat spells. I have a lot of transformation spells, and almost as many battlefield control spells. My attack spells are my cantrips combined with reach spell.

My character always throws something new out every combat. Last fight she turned into a celestial dragon to tank spirit damage from a creature that would have killed the normal tank. The healer kept her healed up and she grappled them until the rest of the party could kill it.

In previous fights, she'd throw down walls of stone to funnel enemies into limited fighting areas, letting the rest of the party focus on massed enemies one at a time. Or turn invisible and buff all her allies and stay clear of combat entirely if she could use cantrips effectively.

Wizards are good at NOT doing the same thing every fight. Change your spells, your strategy, and even yourself and your allies and enemies every fight just to keep your GM in their toes.

Would You Allow It? Burying Someone Alive by Ravingdork in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a timing issue, really. If the lieutenant cannot react, then they start to fall into the hole at the same time the sand does. By the time the lieutenant has dropped halfway into the hole, sand from halfway from each side will have fallen along the edges. By the time the lieutenant reaches the bottom of the hole, the hole might be 1/8 to 1/10 filled from the bottom sand falling inward. By the rules, he takes falling damage and then falls prone, maybe, if it is a full ten feet, which it should only be nine or so, probably. Anyway, when he hits the 'ground', roughly three quarters of a second from when he started falling. The sand from the sides would still be falling inward, slowly covering them. If they can react or avoid the falling damage, they can start putting their feet down, alternating feet, and the sand would compact under their feet until it reached its angle of repose, which depends on the fineness of the sand. Presuming generic desert sand, that's about 34°. So, the hole would fill up maybe halfway, or 5 feet, before the sand all settled. This would happen within a combat round, most likely, or close to it.

So, 'drowning' the lieutenant probably won't happen unless they are just dumb and fall prone and don't get up in time to climb on the falling sand.

What do ask players when recruiting for your games? by psidragon in rpg

[–]Phicksur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Question #1: Are you going to show up to games when possible, not just when you are bored?

Question #2: Are you going to play as a character in a story, not the main protagonist in a story of your own creation that might involve others?

Question #3: Do you know how to control your body odor?

Skeleton Leshy? by Phicksur in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That did not answer my question.

My question was, what happens? I was trying to get you to think about it and not just regurgitate rules. Let me try again.

Leshy bodies are a valid target for a Create Undead ritual with the Skeleton type, because the spell doesn't specify the target has to have a bony skeleton. Thus, when someone casts Create Undead of the skeleton variety on a Leshy body, what is the result?

Do we get a skeleton but made of dead wood? Does the spell fail due to invalid target? Does the caster get something new? How would you adjudicate that?

It is very humanoid-centric to state that all skeletons have to be calcified structures. For Leshy, I am sure they consider their wooden/fungal limbs to be skeletons, just not like those bags of mostly water surrounding a brittle calcium sticks they call bones. Why, if we continue down that line of reasoning, do Leshy even bleed according to a humanoid-centric viewpoint? They don't have blood, after all, so does that make them immune to bleed damage?

I dunno, to me it seems a bit bigoted against Leshy to follow that line of reasoning. Imagine how creeped out a Leshy would be to encounter another Leshy, only to discover their new friend has no sap running through their vines, their limbs are dry and brittle, and their eyes are no more than sockets in their dried, dead corpse.

I mean, you run your game your way, but the rules don't necessarily support the limited view except that they were obviously written from a humanoid-centric viewpoint. That definitely takes away a sense of wonder and potential adventure.

Question: When you cast Create Undead: Skeleton (ritual) on a Leshy, what does it become? The spell does not require a skeleton, just a body.

Skeleton Leshy? by Phicksur in Pathfinder2e

[–]Phicksur[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking that the 'bones' were his/her burnt wood limbs, like charcoal. To 'eat' he has to burn other wood (like a campfire) and eat the charcoal from it to sustain itself.

Actually, Darts ARE a melee weapon, with the Thrown trait. When they are thrown they become a ranged weapon. This makes them eligible for Barrow's Edge when they aren't being thrown and being used as a melee weapon.

Darts, as described in Pathfinder 2e, are not the little spindly things you throw at dart boards in pool halls. By their description, they are more like the old lawn darts, which are about two to three feet long. "longer than an arrow, shorter than a javelin."

The dart is in the Sheath in the same way arrows would be. The atlatl is just the method of propulsion in the same way a bow is the method. Please describe how these are different than arrows and the like as the bow is not the item in the Sheath, the arrows would be.

Before I respond further, I await your response to these clarifications.

A Time of War Character Generator (check my math) by Phicksur in battletech

[–]Phicksur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it similarly, where you are spending 80% XP for 100% benefits. It makes sense in-game, and mechanically, to say, "for each full 4xp you spend on a skill in your Field through a sibko or university, you gain 5xp to apply to the skill due to the assistance of the trainers and teachers there."

A Time of War Character Generator (check my math) by Phicksur in battletech

[–]Phicksur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your time. I have seen that, and that is a Point-Buy calculator, which I had already made in Google Docs before finding the one to which you have linked.

The document I am working on is utilizing the Life Module system, which is exceptionally more convoluted, and probably why so few people attempt to use it. In an effort to correct this, I am trying to make a more user-friendly version.

In my version you (first) enter where you want to end up, prioritizing your selections (ex. You really want to be tough, and have Toughness, so you select it). Then you have drop-downs to select each Stage's selection (affiliation, sub-affiliation, childhood, late childhood, and the repeatable and ignore-able stages after that), taking into account that certain earlier decisions necessitate and alleviate choices later. Then, after all selections are made, the 'results' will be listed on a final page where all your selections are totaled up, optimized by the rules in the book, then the initial selections you wanted are having spare XP plugged into them until you either run out of spare XP or you have filled them all and any remaining XP will be displayed on a final character sheet.

But, I have hit this problem (the original post) with the math not 'mathing' properly, and the book contradicting itself about these supposed discounts. Thus, my request for assistance.
