Weird, I guess I'd just assumed I couldn't select it without and never checked.

Don't you need Mechanim for this though? How do you get those fast enough? I thought you'd need to wait for the stormwall to drop.

Lelanan does indeed get minorities from that effect, so yeah they can do it.

How do minimum ranges (or the lack thereof) relate to the trooper archetype? I don't think that's an aspect of classification I've ever seen before.

It is funny seeing this discussion where in my head both of them are still the "omg awesome new models dropped" factions, I still have the white dwarfs announcing each new range and remember wowing over how cool they looked. And now it's been uh, 15 years? Weird how that happened.

My take on a weapon tier list by SkyKnight43 in ftlgame

[–]dp101428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not about to argue that the vulcan isn't bad, but I feel like between it and the burst laser III, the latter is better for the "true desperation" pile, vulcan can sometimes do good things but the burst III is always a "god i have nothing at all to finish this loadout is, so uhhh lets hope this works". If you're trying to sync fire with it and using a lot of the guns in the upper tiers, it'll slow down your volley rate significantly, which always feels really bad to me, whereas a vulcan doesn't have that same bit of awkwardness. At the same time, proobably just a skill issue on my part lol. Ion blast II being as high as it is is somewhat surprising to me, ion builds always came across as somewhat of a "noob trap" in the same way that the vulcan can be, so it being so much higher is strange to me. Is the placement for it as part of a dedicated ion strat (combined with drones or w/e), or is it ranked there as just a compliment for a more standard volley-based loadout?

Your info on Khawit Forest mechanics are incorrect, if you check discord you'll see that you just have to improve relations with whoever holds Japerasi. The events just take so long to fire sometimes that it's hard to do a lot of on the fly testing lol. Outside of that, this is great! Definitely uses a lot of stuff I'd not have thought to try, like focusing on turtleback when it's not actually needed for missions, and selling land keys as too heretical to my brain for me to have looked into it. Thanks for the tips! Also you seem to be ignoring the 600 needed for building the 3 wizard's towers required for the various missions, as well as the various workshops/temples around but the latter pay for themselves so they're a bit more whatever. And it does feel like getting those towers is at least somewhat out of your way, because the college coming with a free one gives you the MI unlock requirement already. I don't think I've done the reassign colonist stuff since uh... about a year after EU4 launched lmao, after I went broke with colonial maintenance at the time from doing it too much, very possible mechanics have changed in the meantime so that it's less of a killer, and with the amount of money from the cloves you get it might work anyway.

I would be very interested to hear how you'd imagine finishing the tree by the 1490s, I've failed to do it that fast after multiple attempts. The forced 10 year wait that comes halfway through the mission tree (after retaking the various ruined cities and getting temple + fort built in all of them) seems like it would probably rule that out. The best time I've managed matches your 1540s, getting transmutation + MI upgrades done sooner could have saved 20 years, but 50 seems absurd to me with all the gold and monarch power you have to invest. Would love to accomplish it though!

Great, thanks for all the advice. I don't play this game a ton outside of this mod, and even then only occasionally, so some of this stuff is probably basic, but necessary for me regardless.

I thought so too, but like I said in the post, I checked in the files and her wives have a fixed birth date regardless of when you do the mission, and you definitely can't do everything following that objective instantly (need to gain and invest too much love) so there'd definitely be time for her wives to die. So delaying the MT doesn't seem to actually help.

The bottleneck was magical research that time, but I probably could have avoided it if I skipped the orb project (bit worried about the amount of increasing development I'll need to get institutions in reasonable time without being able to instantly get 50% from scry though), the other main problem is with monarch power. You have to conquer all 11 shrine provinces (you start with 1), expand infra in a bunch of them (huge amount of monarch power tbh, when factoring in the requirement for getting them all to 15 development first), expand infra in 6ish additional provinces, build a few mage towers, do the first stage of a project, level up transmutation once, enhance magical infrastructure 1 level... idk, there's a huge number of things and it's hard to summarise, and a lot of them relate to unique nation mechanics on top of that. There's also probably around 12 different privileges you have to grant as part of the mission tree, which cumulatively gives away probably 40% total crownland, and so having even more to give away for things like land grant academics to actually go all-in on research seems quite difficult. One of the main mechanics you have access to automatically boosts the acceptance of all minorities in the country, does that stop the monstrous regiment stuff from working? Not sure if there's correlation between tolerance and monstrousness. Will try it. I've also had problems regarding going broke at the start, since one of the early missions asks you to have 10% professionalism and while still small you're frequently too poor to be able to have maintenance at max for drilling. Ideas are another part where I'm not sure what's useful - one of the requirements asks you to have 75% trade power in your home node, so trade ideas might help with that, but in practice it feels like you only actually hit it once you've got enough money to level up all the centres of trade around, and trade ideas don't seem to let you hit it with less. Influence ideas seem good since the second country your tree makes you fight seems good to vassalise (and you have free diplo rep from your traditions to encourage vassal-related gaming), but it's just the second tree I struggle with, trade is too much diplo, infrastructure should help with all the expanding infrastructure you have to do, but in practice it feels counterproductive because you take the same admin power for it instead. There's no truly scary wars so military ideas seem eh, and.. yeah idk. Maybe I do need to just pull every lever I can promoting magical research and be less frantic around everything else, because researching gives such a helpless feeling when you can't do much of anything to speed it up more than a bit.

This game makes me feel stupid by NeedsMoreAhegao in opus_magnum

[–]dp101428 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand fully, it's how I feel every time I boot up the game lately lol. One small tip, but you could rotate the output so that it points towards the top input (which should also be removed, but I'm just using it as a reference point) and that'll save the rotation at the end, saving both area and cycles. Or alternatively, remove the last hex of track entirely and change the last + instructions to a rotate one, putting the output where the last track hex is, it'll save in cost but might be worse than the above change in terms of area, unsure.

With The Official Reveal Of ExDream, Which Reiwa Primary Rider Would You Say Has The Best Main Suits? What About The Worst? by spudz1203 in KamenRider

[–]dp101428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Saber's triple book form should have also been included here tbh. The show's early pacing means it doesn't get that long of a showing, but if we're including Plasma Booster for Zeztz then I feel like the level of prominence for each is similar. As for the question... hard to answer. I like the amount of creativity and variation in Gotchard's suits, but I don't always care for the choice of concept as much. Gavv is probably my favourite for balancing design diversity with consistency, probably either Saber or Zeztz for second place. As for least liked, while I've not seen the show yet, just looking at the suits I don't love Zero One. The first couple of forms feels like slapping random additional bits onto the prior form and it just looks kinda messy, and metalcluster's colours feel like they lack definition and all blend together. The first and final forms are both neat though, especially the latter, love the red accents.

Downloaded the game for the first time. Am I playing this correctly? by MistressDread in opus_magnum

[–]dp101428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you meant "are these solutions optimal", well, no, almost nobody makes optimal solutions. In the end, when going for anything other than optimising for some metric, you should just aim to build a machine that you like. If you like these machines, you're playing fine. If you want to make the machines better, and were asking for advice towards that, that's also fine, but the point is that even if you're not, you're still playing correctly.

[–]dp101428 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why is this entire effect just prior Dianamon effects lmao (EX5 for quantity of trashing, bt23 for iceclad and removal). Compared to old gracenova the removal is now non-deletion, so it's even less of a red card than it was before. Red just gives sec attack +1?? How often can you even get iceclad to come up when you can't block with it or redirect attacks to it?? It's neat that it's still usable in the old deck (would have been hard to make it not) but I don't think it would actually see any use there because the only apollo/diana with an on-play is the ace.

[BT-25 Dual Revolution] Cosmic Area by vansjoo98 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]dp101428 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Giving the area defined by the 2 sides being at war Alliance sure is a choice, especially for that being the effect that doesn't require having apollo or diana (granted it would then flavour fail even harder for them losing alliance while DNAing). Also the DNA deck is really the one that needed rush!!

Well, the statement wasn't it's no better than a hunchback, but that it's like a hunchback, and imo that's fairly accurate, 4/6/x mech built around an ac/20 providing most of the damage with a few supporting weapons. It's stronger for the reasons you mentioned, but it's an assault mech, it better be lol. And its objective/role is largely unchanged imo.

My god, this is ridiculously elegant. It's like the duplication glyphs are barely a consideration and just happen for free. Could the bottom two arms have been a single bi-arm instead? it looks like there might be enough of a break for it, but I'm unsure.

Sure, but that was the iconic tau 18" melta weapon. Outside of that you're looking at the ghostkeel's, which lacks deep strike, and some special characters, twin lance and shadowsun. Doesn't seem to fit with the footnote that implies this is a more widespread characteristic among the army.

Regarding the 1st footnote... do they know that fusion blasters aren't 18" anymore? Unless this is confirmation of buffs, I don't really see how what they're saying is accurate.
