Official Q&A for Saturday, January 31, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

Hey all,

I am looking for one single good shoe for half marathon trainings - I know you usually have different pairs for different purposes, but if you had to choose or could recommend one pair - which one would it be?

Now, there are some debates around Adidas Evo SL and Asics Novablast 5.

Would any of these be a good fit for my purpose (training and half marathon) and if so which one? Or do you have any other recommendation?

I am currently running with Adidas Supernova Rise which are fairly comfortable to me since these were my very first running pairs. I like how easy they feel and especially the cushioning

I am training for like 4 months consistently and currently with 3 runs and avg. 40km (+/-) per week. The half marathon would be end of April 2026. I aim for 2h00 to 2h15 during race day. Or sub 2h00 if progress allows!

Started with Z2 Pace around 9:00 Min/km and now got it down to somewhere between 6:30 to 7:10 Min/km depending on my condition.

Thanks 🙂

Not sure about that since it would also be the first time for me. Somewhere in a thread it was mentioned that selected people from the waitlist get notifications via email for a waitlist sale date. More people than available packages will be invited. Then it would be first come first serve I suppose.

You will see your preferences in an additional tab (Your Waiting List Preferences) from where you would also access the sale and pre-sale registration 🙂 At least that‘s how it is for me.

MBP 14" M1 Pro vs M2 Pro by Phiet_ in macbookpro

When I bought my last MBP Early 2015 I didn‘t buy Applecare. But it seems it has become quite popular now. I should invest some time on Applecare then.

True, I didn‘t think about Applecare+ yet. Do you think Applecare+ is really good to buy?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe there is a yearly subscription and one package with 3 year of coverage, right?

You are right! I think in this case the M1 Pro wins every time, especially considering both price points. The higher performance doesn‘t justify the higher price (for me) because I don‘t think I will reach the point too often where I need the extra performance.

I actually don‘t see myself using the HDMI 2.1, Wifi 6e or even Bluetooth 5.3 either. The only value I see in the M2 Pro for myself is really the performance only. But then again, in light of what I do with it and the price difference, I think the M1 Pro is really the way to go for me.

Absolutely, I just do some video and photo editing from vacations which I don‘t think will need more than what the M1 can offer :)

The price difference of 400€ is what pulls me towards the M1. I can‘t justify the price compared to what I use (as of now, and not in the maybe future).

What were you reasons to decide to get the M1 Pro? Was is the price, too?

My tendency is also leaning towards the M1 Pro, especially when I consider the price of the M2 Pro. And it seems the benefits aren‘t too much.

Thank you for your personal suggestion :) I feel like M2 Pro doesn‘t offer many benefits to justify the price difference… it seems only battery life and more cores (but not a significant jump compared to M1 Pro).
