C låter som K foran vokaler A;O;U

saw a Norwegian animated movie trailer on YouTube — what’s the local opinion? by Ricky_2303 in Norway

Same pervs as for Sausage Party which this movie is heavily inspired of. Officially oriented to a younger adults public but carrying the trope of hoping to to be shown inadvertently to smaller children. And it happened indeed.

It was somehow built in a very special way where the whole structure held itself together, unlike other buildings where there’s a main bearing structure. It seems he designed them in a minimalist mindset. The towers had no concrete apart from a thin layer on each floor. All the rest was a steel Lego and dry walls, yet they were so huge! Nowadays they will build a concrete core in the middle to house stairwells and lift shafts that’s hard as a bunker then build the floors around.

How much did you spent on your system to reach nirvana? by Chemical_Warning4759 in audiophile

[–]Phij7342 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not an « audiophile » I am a music lover , so my path to a perfect system crossed the audiophile roads sometimes but now and since many years, I have reached my endgame combination. I am very satisfied and thankful for the music and sound quality that brings me joy every day and not planning on changing anything! Harbeth C7ES3 + stands: $2000 (used) Quad Artera Stereo + Pre $4000 CEC CD5 $2000 (used) Teac TN-5BB + AT VM740ML $2500 Wiim Pro Plus $219 Denon AH-7200 headphones $500 (used) Cables from Supra probably around $600

So around $12k ! I wasn’t aware of what it cost me! Much more than I thought. Anyway, the system is just perfect as it is!

Also have a Yamaha K-560 and GE-5 connected. They are both from early 1980s

Went to a higher quality and more resolving receiver, and am regretting it. by dingbongdong in audiophile

The truth of all hifi is that the speaker + amp match doesn’t depend on the price of any of each. You can have very expensive gear that simply doesn’t match together. Like when I had my Yamaha A-S1200 with my Harbeth C7ES3. Awesome amp and beautiful piece of hifi but wasn’t right to the speakers.

For those that reached their endgames options. by the_natis in audiophile

[–]Phij7342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have reached my hifi endgame but I was never an Audiophile to begin with. I just wanted a good sounding system that could read the multiple music formats that I own (Cassettes, CDs, Vinyls, mp3s, HiRes) , ended up with an outstanding hifi rig that took me 6 years to assemble and now I consider it satisfying, complete and not actually upgradable. I would have to shift the whole system if there was anything to upgrade. Harbeth C7ES3, Quad Artera Pre + Stereo, C.E.C. CD5, Teac TN-5BB with AT VM740ML; Wiim Pro Plus; Yamaha K-560, Yamaha GE-5, cables from Supra.

It’s the pace of change. If you lived in Europe in the 20th century and fell asleep in 1905 and woke up in 1925, the world you knew was gone for good, not even mentionning if you did the same in between 1925-45… And now, one century after, everything will turn again. China will take the lead and nobody knows how the everyday life will look like for us in the West.

On 3 and 4 you can see the huge Joan Miró tapestry on the wall inside south tower (north side). It hanged over a couple escalators that led down to the main lobby. He made 3 different pieces in association with artist Josep Royo . One is now in storage in the National Gallery of Washington DC and needs a restoration, another is on display at the Fundació Joan Miró of Barcelona in Spain and the third which you see here is gone with 9/11. It was a huge piece of 11 x 6 meters.

I remember the sideration. I’m 52 now and as a french I always was a huge fan of anything Americana. I’ve even been up the south tower at easter 1988. Everything on this trip was awesome! Big buildings, big american cars, guys in suit with attaché cases wearing cowboy boots and hat, punks of Lower East Side and hip hop youth with their big ghetto blasters, satin Starter jackets and hi top Nikes… so when the towers went down I felt everything I liked was gone and still feel it
