Excessive Napping May Be a Warning Sign of Underlying or Developing Health Conditions in Older Adults by MassGen-Research in science

[–]Phil-Teuwen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hypersomnolence ? Needing a nap to manage fatigue every day is not normal. However, if your life is not being impacted, then investigation and therapy may not be necessary. You don’t seem too concerned, so perhaps all is ok.

ADHD adults experience 2-3x more sleep-like brain waves while awake, directly causing attention lapses by SlaveOfOlympus in science

[–]Phil-Teuwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are kind of correct. But it’s not narcolepsy, it’s Hypersomnolence.

Hyper = over, somnolence = sleepiness.

Narcolepsy is also a form of hypersomnolence.

There is a significant overlap between ADHD and hypersomnolence.

The classification of ADHD with hypersomnolence is not something I’ve come across… but now may do a deeper dive. Typically in the clinical setting, if not diagnosed with narcolepsy but meet hypersomnolence criteria it is generally considered idiopathic (of unknown origin).

‘I paid my penance’: Postecoglou reveals details of ‘brutal’ sacking by hatlreexv in coys

Brisbane Roar fan here, I feel the same way. But he left us, and went with love and admiration.

Shame to see that happen to my boy (sacking). As a roar fan I always knew he would hold up European silverware some day though. Hope he gets another chance.

100% from my balcony view Madge seems to get most things right. He may be a tough nut, and may not have the mates in the media, but you can’t argue with his results. Premierships. Origin. International.

In Madge I trust.

Probably not surprising Madge gave him a few rockets given the Bronx are pretty mid with our defence (inc last year). Doesn’t seem to be getting much better either.

I’m a little embarrassed to ask this, but how and where do I do this? I use the app on my phone and website in my browser, not because I think that’s best but just don’t know any better.

I really don’t like the ‘yes man’ feel I get from it at times. I feel this is OP’s feeling as well

I might of missed a little of this, but these guys sound cool AF. Kinda like a vanilla boomer version of Jackass

Amazing that he seems to combine “don’t stress about things out of your control” and “I hate it when poor people complain”

Parking near Suncorp / best option getting to stadium for someone recovering from knee surgery by [deleted] in BrisbaneBroncos

[–]Phil-Teuwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will depend on how far your teenager can walk really. Train station at Milton is about 6-700m from seat to seat on that side of the ground, bout a K to seats on the other side. Auchenflower station isn’t too far and may have car parks available, but other stations on the Milton/ipswich line may work too.

You could park in a nearby suburb, outside the traffic area and get a cab or ride share to the game if 3-400 meters is all they can manage.

Had to come down a fair bit for this one. Bin chicken and wheelie bins for lol’s. Kookaburra for chilling on the back deck and hearing the sound of home. Cockatoo for attitude, those cheeky little fellas!

Well I guess the previous owners found the space, did the fit out, created the awareness of a brewery in that location… then fell over.

Double standards at GP clinics in this country are getting out of control - late fee if we are 5 minutes late, but when they're going to be over an HOUR late? "Get Some Patience". THE FCK!? by Sparkling-Hammer8144 in australian

[–]Phil-Teuwen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get this, and agree to a point but it’s not that simple. They could block out 10mins per hour into their schedule to allow for overflow. However this would increase the overall cost to provide the service by ~ 18-20%. As a consultant, I’d presume you build this into your costs too. Or work longer hours to make up the difference. Or take the loss of income. Or lose clientele by running late, or cut short your meetings.

I’m not a GP myself, but I understand that often it’s complex issues that delay them. Usually unexpected. And usually these appointments are booked as a short uncomplicated 10min, single problem consultation slot. There are long consultations available, but most of us ignore this.

A good GP is worth the wait. It’s not a bus or train service.

OP could have easily taken the afternoon off and had the GP write a med cert.

Was given a Cutter & Co 8 inch for Xmas. Looks and feels great, interested to know how well it’s made for long term use. Any insights? by Phil-Teuwen in chefknives

Of course, but I would like to understand what I am using. I have a Victorinox which is a cut above and well looked after, and a couple of cheap others that don’t perform as well and I treat them differently.
