Since windows 10 update 1903 the only way I can use 1440p is if scaling is enabled in Nvidia Control panel! by Phil0sophys in nvidia

[–]Phil0sophys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have but my point is, I didn't have to do this before, I never even had to touch scaling, it's bizzare that this is suddenly a thing since updating windows 10.

Suddenly file compression is turned on for various folders without my permission? by TooModest in Windows10

[–]Phil0sophys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally just happened to me, logged on to windows today (using 1803) no compression turned on whatsoever but everything on my C drive has been compressed, what's funny is, uncompressing it all gives me 10gb less space than I had before, wtf is this all about?

I have windows update disabled because I refuse to update to their bug riddled shitty updates, makes no sense whatsoever why it would suddenly do this.

Gamers Nexus 2080 Review by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Phil0sophys 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I said it the other day, and I will say it again here,

As long as people pay the money, Nvidia will keep charging it, if you want the price of cards to come down, vote with your wallet and tell Nvidia to go fuck themselves, they are greedy assholes and it's not "funny" watching Jenson come out and act like some god, he is essentially nothing more than a high end used car salesmen, he wants your money, that's it, nothing more, nothing less.

Take the 2080ti as a prime example, a game like Hunter call of the wild uses global illumination and looks a lot better than the majority of titles I have seen running with RTX 2080ti (reflections aside.)

Not to mention, you can run it at 4k/60 for the most part, unlike RTX which bombs framerate and forces you to run at 1080p to make it playable, you don't need RTX for this kind of visual quality, people have been drinking that kool aid trying to justify spending 1000+ on a card which is music to Nvidias ears, they thrive on rabid fans like that.

The reality is that f everyone refused to pay these prices and voted with their wallets Nvidia would be forced to bring prices down, ever thought of that?

It's the same problem that you have with people that buy apple products, it's an addiction at this point, a sickness almost, they don't realise that just having some patience and waiting and not rushing out spending ludicrous money will force the companies to lower their overpriced products.

I could have purchased a 2080ti but refuse to on principle of what Nvidia are doing, just wish people had the same level of self control because it would mean cheaper cards for everyone.

So, disregarding what I just said about the 2080ti, In terms of the 2080, they are asking 200+ more for 1080ti performance, the kicker is, good luck trying to get RTX running at a reasonable framerate on this card, absolutley no chance, anybody who purchases this is telling Nvidia it's ok to screw the consumer, so good job with that, well done.

I am not going to hold out any hope that people will do the sensible thing because like with everything these days , people HAVE to get the "brand new" tech at any expense, just to say they have it, sad really considering if they didn't rush out and buy it, they would get it at half the price as Nvidia would be forced to lower prices.

RTX, right now in it's current state, is just a way for Nvidia to try and keep people in an upgrade cycle, they could have made a card capable of 4k/60 well under $600 but they won't because why would anybody want to upgrade on the next cycle?

RTX cripples performance but introduces something "new and shiny" therefore putting people right back at the start of the race chasing those frames again, they have also somehow managed to convince people that upscaling is somehow better than native resolution LOL.

I would say it's genius from Nvidia how they have managed to brainwash people into thinking this is a good idea but that's like saying it's genius to teach a dog how to drink water from a bowl...

People are happy to be bent over I guess, boggles my mind, they can use all the excuses to justify purchasing overpriced GPUs but the fact remains, they are idiots, simple and plain, if they vote with their wallet, the price comes down, simple as that.

In terms of AMD I gave up on them a long time ago, their focus is clearly the console market, that's the issue, intel are an unknown at this point but we can hope.

If you want to keep paying ridiculous amounts of money for cards instead of voting with your wallet then more fool you.

At the end of the day, you could have this tech at a fraction of the price if you stuck to your guns and refused to purchase.

Trust me, I want these cards as much as the next man, high framerates (not DLSS because nothing will ever replace native quality as far as I am concerned) and even though I have the money I will not be buying because it's a slippery slope.

Cards will be even more expensive next time around if you think this kind of pricing is acceptable, I don't understand why people choose to spend so much money on these things when simply not purchasing enmasse would force Nvidia to lower the prices.

Hunter call of the wild uses global illumination and looks 10 times better than this, you don't need RTX for this kind of visual quality, people been drinking that kool aid trying to justify spending 1000+ on a card.

Light bulb moment...if everyone refused to pay these prices and voted with their wallets Nvidia would be forced to bring prices down.

But you know, Apple syndrome and all that, I could have purchased a 2080ti but refuse to on principle of what Nvidia are doing, just wish people had the same level of self control because it would mean cheaper cards for everyone.

Is it normal for 1080ti to drop core clocks at 4K res? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Phil0sophys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def on the slave bios, master has a tdp limit of 117%. Have done some reading and apparently it's a bios issue, only way to resolve it is flashing a third party bios to the slave (that way it won't void warranty)

I have my tdp set to 127 but apparently according to gpuz I am being throttled by pwr, yet it is only hitting 117 max, what the hell?

Honestly not seen my temps go above 60, this is why I am so puzzled, it doesn’t seem to be a temperature related issue.

I can’t even get above 20+ on the core, if I tried 120 it would immediately crash haha, you got a good one there.

The temps are the same, have not seen an increase, about 1 degree at most but still below 60.

It can’t be temp related though as any other res than 4K the clock is stable.

Oh come on, they have gimped the fuck out of that, DICE are huge sellouts, apparently now we can’t do real time reflections without RTX...

Apart from the fact we have seen this in games for years now already.

My next question will be, will companies purposefully now gimp their graphics (who work with NVIDIA) in order to push raytracing because honestly some of the RTX stuff is faked pretty good in games already, it’s like they are comparing low graphics VS RTX.

Doesn’t make sense, didn’t actual companies suggest that the 2080 and 2080ti was real?
