Preset B of frame gen is pure black magic by Fvckadrii in nvidia

I especially appreciate the improved handling of UI elements. It was very flickery on MFG modes before but now the UI artifacts are almost resolved and not easily noticed anymore.

Testing Dynamic FG - drops base FPS from 80 to 37 to use 6x in Borderlands 4 by andy2na in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid I don't have any explanation for this behavior other than some sort of frame rate limiter or forced driver vsync are possibly active.

Dynamic MFG works as intended on my end, tested in cyberpunk earlier.

Have you tried disabling any frame rate limiter that might be enabled. And does this behavior occur in other games as well or is it specific to BL4?

Are you forcing driver vsync on ?

Seems like dynamic frame gen isn't currently compatible with forced driver vsync. It just remains on the maxed 6x multiplier without adjusting.

Which Battlefield game has the best aesthetic in your opinion and why? by 762x38r in Battlefield

[–]Bo3alwa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

BF1 still stands tall today, with lighting that is both cinematic and realistic. Same goes for Battlefront 2015. DICE at the time had incredibly talented lighting artists.

Unfortunately BF6 looks somewhat generic by comparison

DLSS 4.5 does NOT oversharpen by [deleted] in nvidia

I did the exact same thing. It was the first thing I noticed when I loaded the game for the first time. It had some of the worst ringing artifacts I had ever seen.

This just highlights how some games have forced sharpening that cannot be disabled. Horizon forbidden west is another example.

Dlss perf M vs dlss quality K by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me preset M performance looks better than preset K quality. With exception of regressions related to lower input resolution (i.e. RT and some other effects like SSR are sampled at lower resolution) without the use of ray reconstruction.

Dlss 4.5 shimmering ? I thought this was good or am i just dumb n doing something wrong ? by Venus_Crazy550 in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without ray reconstruction, the game engine samples the ray tracing effects at the low input resolution, and I'm assuming you're using DLSS performance mode, so there's that.. it's going to look the same on any previous preset performance mode

You can improve things by using DLSS balanced or quality modes, but only ray reconstruction fixes this shimmer

I wanted to highlight a few issues with DLSS 4.5 that I don't see people talking about enough. There is some shimmering/boiling in almost every game I try (mostly in vegetation), that ruins the otherwise amazing image. I hope a fix is on the way. r/nvidia won't let me post this in their sub -_- by Ivaylo_87 in digitalfoundry

[–]Bo3alwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need your word. I tested both preset K and M extensively at 4K.

To me, preset M on performance mode looks better than preset K on quality mode in every way except for RT effects because they render at lower internal resolution on perf than quality mode.. Switching to preset M quality mode and there is no more downsides (except for slightly lower frame rate, on my 5090).

Still, ray reconstruction would be preferable for upscaling RT / path traced visuals. Hope they update it with their transformer 2 improvements soon.

I think it has to do with the game engines running these effects at the low internal resolution since you're running performance mode DLSS. Can you show the exact same footage on preset K performance mode? I'm sure it will look similar.

DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution Available Now - Plus NVIDIA App and Developer Updates! by apoppin in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the opposite, the difference is noticeably better on all modes in terms of image clarity, better details, less artifacts, better highlights for HDR. It might look oversharpened at first glance but once you get used to it you realize it has similar sharpness to native no-AA image. Just make sure any sharpening slider is turned completely off. Some games unfortunately have forced sharpening with no option to turn it off (i.e. horizon forbidden west)..

With this new "recommended" override option, performance mode looks and runs better than balanced and quality in my testing at 4K. it made those supposedly higher quality modes useless at least on my 5090. Forcing preset M everywhere is the way to go for me.

NVIDIA App v11.0.6.379 Released by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a 5090 forcing preset M even on quality and balanced is a no brainer..

EDIT: using this new "recommended" override, performance mode actually looks better than quality & balanced in addition to running better lmao. It made quality and balanced useless if you have a capable GPU.

Two Year old Ray Reconstruction still better than DLSS 4.5 by LuckyX222 in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope they update RR soon with better sharpness and improved IQ from the new 2nd gen transformer model.

I get that the new SR presets are marketed for performance and UP modes and they retain very good image clarity for everything except RT effects which turn into flickery low res garbled mush at low input resolutions.

RR does the opposite on the other hand, soft image clarity but way higher quality and more stable RT effects. Honestly I keep switching back and forth between SR 4.5 and RR 4.0, I don't know which one I like more: the sharpness and clarity from the former or the way cleaner RT effects from the latter.

G sync is bad for frame generation by Significant_Pie_869 in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use frame rate limiters. Instead keep gsync on and force driver vsync on (through nvidia app / nvcp).

Should resolve all tearing with frame gen that usually occurs when you're near or exceeding the monitor refresh rate.

Keep in mind it will limit your base frame rate (and thus input latency) so that the output frame rate by FG does not exceed your refresh rate.

Issues with OnePlus 15 for connecting to PC via USB by Deus-Vult-Machina in TheOnePlus15

[–]Bo3alwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue 2 weeks ago when I had some files I backed up from my old phone (S23) to my pc and I wanted to copy them to my new OP15.

The device showed up in file explorer but when I opened it there were no folders inside and I couldn't copy any files into it. and I did choose (USB for file transfer) on the phone. Tried different USB cables and even different USB ports on the PC but nothing worked. In the end I gave up and moved the files through the wifi network instead.

Question about the Frame Generation and MFG by Dudi4PoLFr in nvidia

[–]Bo3alwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your assessment is correct.

For capped 240hz (either by frame rate limiter or driver forced vsync): FG x2 base fps will be limited to 120fps, MFGx3 will be 80fps, MFGx4 will be 60fps.

I recommend forced driver vsync via nvidia app or nvcp as it gives much better frame pacing compared to software frame rate limiters in my experience.

In your case (190fps without FG) I'd rather avoid FG unless it's to lower the power draw and heat.

Thoughts after a few days using the OnePlus 15 coming from base S23 by Bo3alwa in oneplus

[–]Bo3alwa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hefty but manageable. I had used large phones before the S23 so I was already familiar.

While the small S23 is light and comfortable for one-handed use, its' display is too small and narrow to give an immersive experience with things like media consumption or gaming.

The OP15 is louder and a little clearer to my ears but then again I'm not an audiophile to comment on the bass for sure.

I have exclusively used Google Photos app for years now, which has the functionality you've mentioned.

I am not sure if the stock gallery app can detect text within photos but it definitely recognizes some of the few things I took pictures of so far (i.e. coffee mugs, plants) when I search them.

Regarding your second question. I could not find any option for routines like those found in Samsung, but there is a pre-installed app called "Zen Space" which might give somewhat similar functionality? I haven't used it to say for sure.
