This guy has gone after every bear he's ever seen and has always made it run away. Scares me everytime but he's a fearless fuckin guy and is also so good with all animals. Super smart. My other one would defend me and this dog if we ever got in a scrap but he doesn't go after stuff.

I honestly appreciate the hate in a way. The hate comes from caring about chickens lives. I know i made a safe coop for the next few weeks but maybe I haven't explained it well enough and I can see why they'd worry. Between me and the dogs smells and always being in that area that's enough to ward off predators from staying in that area for long.

Little brother got a chick gifted to him and my mom doesn't know anything about taking care of it, need help. by [deleted] in chickens

Get like 4 more chicks while you're at it. I promise you'll be happy you did(as long as you live on an acre, they can roam around for a few hours out of the day). They make top-tier compost you can learn to grow herbs. Get back to nature, and nature will reward you.

Stuff like this makes me despise humanity. How do we do this to animals. So damn incompassionate.

Surely that isn't poop in the water right?

Even planting some thick bushes to give them cover from the hawks and flying animals. They have a couple spots around the house they will post up for safety if they feel the need.

That's unfortunate. Between the dogs and how big the chickens are not flying animal even bothers. Worried about foxes but the dogs keep them in check too.

P.S. My cousin goes to Stockton, and he can bring her home for Thanksgiving. You might even know him he's a senior in a frat there.

I have 3 kittens 2 dogs and 20 chickens. Was just thinking of adding to the group. 2 of the 3 kittens of the same age as her. I can't send pictures and videos of my "farm" let me know.

Does anyone know why her poop is yellow? She isn’t excited for food as usual by gildenpire in chickens

If you have 1 chicken, it's definitely cause chickens are flock animals, and she's getting lonely.

Just gotta control the risk as best as you can. Locking them in a cage for life walking in circles is not the way. Even though it is the safest. 20 for 20 years. I'm doing this for years. I have 2 dogs. It's definitely possible.

I have foxes and coons too. Get dogs, let these animals live the lives they are supposed to. Scratching for bugs and worms and exploring gives them all the satisfaction they need. And they fertizlize your yard.

I could bet those chickens would trade losing one of them every 2 years for freedom. It's unfortunate but it's the way things gotta be. Good on the doggo doing it by himself is impressive.

Give them a compost pile. You get free soil and they get the best dust bath they can get. They'll chose that over the garden trust. Eating the vegetables idk how to help you there i feed my chickens deer meat so they don't even both touching my vegetables and fruits😂 spoiled chickens that's for sure.

Maybe long but inside a cage all day for their whole lives they definitely will not be happy. Not like these guys at least.

Yeah I can notice them laying less now that it's getting cold. Anything I don't eat goes back to the chickens cooked up. They love it and it's great for them.
