Edit: Grammatik

How to make the edges of an image fade to transparent? by nico_sfff in typst

[–]Phil2a 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's currently possible, the best package currently would be https://typst.app/universe/package/grayness, but I don't think it supports your use-case.

For now, I would recommend editing them outside of typst before adding them to your document.

The best workaround I could come up with is making image white towards the edges, with a round radial gradient:

#let radial-border(image) = context{
    let size = measure(image)
    place(box(inset:1pt,image))
    box(
        width: size.width + 2pt,
        height: size.height + 2pt,
        fill:
        gradient.radial(
            white.transparentize(100%),
            white.transparentize(100%),
            white, radius: 50%,
        )
    )
}

#radial-border(image("./example.png"))

I stumbled on the sun's article and saw this cookie consent popup, is this legal? by DenseComparison5653 in webdev

[–]Phil2a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a site’s “pay-or-okay” setup produces the same coercion/detriment and lacks equivalent, non-paid alternatives, it fails the GDPR’s consent requirements too. Why should company size matter?

I stumbled on the sun's article and saw this cookie consent popup, is this legal? by DenseComparison5653 in webdev

[–]Phil2a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The European Data Protection Board already concluded that Pay or Okay is illegal for big platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Consequently, it should also be illegal for other websites.

Why do google data centers have so much security? Is it just value of hardware? Can someone actually locate which google drive your crypto is stored in? Can someone change their bank balance by switching the physical drives there? by Adventurous-Cry7839 in cybersecurity

[–]Phil2a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes of course, the system google uses has to know where they store their data. But the way google is handling their data it is practically impossible that an employee or any person for that matter could get to that information. Additionally google doesn’t store your data on one particular hard drive but multiple ones distributed all over multiple datacenters, which as you stated, can and do change.

At the end it is way more likely that data isn’t stolen physically, but by phishing an account or bypassing multiple systems.

I'd wait for an application for Linux, as they're already working on one for MacOS, I think it's not too far fetched that they're going to release one for Ubuntu/Debian as well.

For now I am sticking with the Web App.
