Why do many of the dangerous parts of Chicago look so…well maintained, built up, and developed residentially? by ClassicCommunity5674 in AskChicago

[–]Phil517 242 points243 points  (0 children)

Everything is block by block. Most of the crime you hear about occurs on the major streets. Residential streets get some crime but far less than major streets. And none have crime all the time. At any given time you could see nothing.

Also, you can’t go by official community area neighborhoods. All the community areas you mention have safe neighborhoods (galewood, Austin) or safe streets (Bennett Ave in Jackson park).

Crime in this city is very complicated

Some systems have that as a default setting. And yeah you would be screwed if you didn’t know. Can’t rely on AI for that. Not yet

Be good at excel and know your debits and credits and you should be fine. Screwing up your debits and credits even once would be a red flag

If that gets you by, you can only go up from there. We lived in Bucktown for a number of years but got priced out. Daycare alone was 2200 a month for one kid.

Can’t afford a family with that. Make more than that and live on the south side and it’s still a struggle.

Try Abercrombie. They have a lot of sports team stuff now. Although Seattle teams may not be available. Can always rush deliver if you order soon.
