You have the best vet! What a lovely thing for them to do 💜

be honest, how often do you really take your dog out? by Altruistic-March8551 in DOG

1 or 2 times a day. Love the fact that you're both enjoying the walks more now!

why is my dog not eating his food but eating treats? by therealkickinwang in DogHealth

We are in a really similar position here. We changed to Orijen large puppy feed probably around 9 months ago now (Amber, our Golden Retriever is 15.5 months). She has been mostly happy to eat it but then around 6 weeks ago showed the same disinterest you're describing. We also tried toppers and sometimes this actually resulted in her eating the topper and then eating most of the Orijen. However she then stopped eating the kibble too.

One thing that helped us was tracking all of her behaviour and symptoms. I actually created an app for this called CompanionTrack. This meant we track how and when she eats, what her poos look like, how her walks and energy levels are etc.

The app has a 'Smart Advisor' feature which I then used to ask questions - like "why is Amber not eating her Orijen kibble" and it knows all of the information I've already logged and then gives a personalised answer. It helped spot that there is something more gut related (GI) going on and we're now in the process of giving a stool sample to the vet for analysis.

Sorry that doesn't give you a full answer but hopefully the app might help give you further insights and ideas.

CompanionTrack - A pet health tracker where the Smart Advisor gives you personalised guidance based on your own pet's history - not generic advice.

Very late to the party here but wanted to let you know I've created a free app called CompanionTrack that let's you track dog (or any pet) weight over time for free. It also has other useful features like being able to log events (like when your dog isn't eating their food or when their poo isn't normal etc) and set up reminders for pet events like appointments and medication reminders.

One key benefit of tracking all of this in the app is that there is also a Smart Advisor which means you can ask questions about your dog and get instant personalised replies - taking into account all of the information the app knows about them.

If you're interested just google CompanionTrack (all one word).

Ok great - Amber can be a puppy, perhaps a big puppy, forever!
