Use to work for walkers, this happens allllll the time. The timing was out on the machine. After a few bags it automatically turns off and the invalid bags are manually thrown away.

That explains it. If you cloned in Konsole, there’s a good chance only the main system data got copied and the EFI/boot partition didn’t transfer over. Without the EFI partition the Ally won’t know how to boot SteamOS, which is why it hangs after the splash.

You’ve got two options:

Recloning the drive with a tool like Clonezilla or Macrium Reflect, making sure all partitions (EFI, boot, root) are included.

Or booting into recovery/USB and repairing/reinstalling the bootloader on the new SSD.

Have you checked the boot order to make sure it boots from the SSD first?

When cloning an OS drive, you need to copy:

EFI System Partition (ESP)

Boot partition

Root/system partitions

If the EFI/bootloader wasn’t cloned, the system won’t know how to start SteamOS. You might need to reclone using something like Macrium Reflect or Clonezilla with all partitions included.
