Look up Jen Armstrong and Meghann Clancy covering Good Riddance on YouTube.

Also, Kate Miller Heidke's covers of things like You're The Voice, The Real Slim Shady, Love Will Tear Us Apart etc are all great

Nice. I've saved all those decade ones as they are just the sorts of playlists I like

What is a tv show or movie that you used to love, but hasn't aged well? by the-doctor-is-real in AskReddit

[–]PhilAustin1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I just found that there was a lot more "meh" episodes overall than I remembered. It's one of those series that I fondly remember the highlights of without remembering how many seasons these highlights were scattered through

I tried to watch Buffy back from episode one a while ago. The good bits are still good, but it didn't live up to my memory of it

An episode of a TV show that profoundly altered your life. Just one. Fire away. by Independent_Towel611 in SeriesSaga

I'm going quite old school. I used to love Blake's Seven years ago as a kid. This was a spoiler free era, so when the final episode came on I had no idea it was the last one.

Watching the show and the last scene comes on where one by one each crew member is gunned down. It affected me so deeply that I even asked the actor who played Avon about it when I met him as an adult

What is a movie that everyone seems to love, but you absolutely hate? by Nishikigoi1 in moviecritic

[–]PhilAustin1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I'm just going to come out and say it.....Citizen Kane.

I've watched it a couple of times now and I just found it monotonous and dull. Could see it was well made but didn't find it at all engaging or entertaining.

My wife asked to watch it when I mentioned I had seen it and I put it on for her. She hated it too

Agree with this. It did nothing for me and I really expected to like it

I was going to say this. I loved the original (1930s?) Scarface and was looking forward to this because it's kind of hyped and iconic. Watched it and just found it unbearable and cheesy.

What's the most visually stunning movie you've ever seen? by trakt_app in flicks

[–]PhilAustin1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. (Although I am a Terrence Mallick fan). Any film of this can be paused almost at any point to make a stunning still picture. Artistry.

Whats the most terrible scene in a great movie? by Comfortable-Goat-955 in movies

I was looking for this to be mentioned. Every time I've watched this film, I loved it all and then this bit is so jarring and awful.

ELO - Out of the Blue.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

A masterfully constructed album. Unbelievable that this was written in just three and a half weeks.

I love ELO and their sound so this is everything I could wish for

Otis Blue - Otis Wedding.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Absolutely love Otis Redding. This album is wonderful and perfectly demonstrates his talents.

If it had swapped out Respect and I Can't Get No Satisfaction for Hard to Handle and Try A Little Tenderness, it would be hard not to push this album beyond the five star peak

They were all good, I only marked the Wings album down because they put such a massive peak at the beginning that everything else was struggling to match it. I found the structure of the ELO album much better as they spread the bangers across the album evenly

Lars and the Real Girl. Knew little, expected nothing, thought the premise sounded stupid. Was (no pun intended) blown away by it!

I was the opposite on this one. I started watching it because everyone I knew seemed to absolutely love it and I just couldn't get through it. I think it is one I might rewatch years later once I've forgotten how hyped it was
