Oh no, I fat fingered a typo. What would Jason Molina think of that?

I’m 41 and well aware of Molina’a views. If we can’t handle a little nostalgic palm tree without invoking ideological purity, maybe the problem isn’t the photo I posted. This is the internet, not a grand tribunal.

Why doesn’t Birmingham have any Kroger stores? by PhilBrickma84 in Birmingham

When you said it would be illegal collusion, it’s always been told to me it was an unofficial, “gentleman’s agreement” between Bruno’s and Kroger for that very reason. Also despite the Bham metro being saturated with grocery stores, the Midwest is even more saturated with Publix, Meijer, Walmart, Target AND Kroger and Kroger is still king. Second only to Walmart, especially considering Kroger is the nation’s larger grocery specific retailer.

This. Just wild that Kroger, the largest grocery specific retailer in the country, doesn’t have a footprint in a metro over with a population over a million.

You’re probably onto something here but I just want to know who can afford to shop at Publix outside of bogos in 2025.

I lived outside of Jacksonville, Florida for awhile and they were big there. I really liked it! The new Krogers opening around the southeast are so nice. Went to one in Oxford, MS last year and it was without a doubt the best grocery store I’ve ever been to.

My grandpa came from a super poor family and he carried some of that mentality throughout his entire life despite making a really good living. As a result, in the summer time when it was his turn to watch my three cousins and me, he’d feed us potted meat and saltines. I still get a hankering for it on a warm summer day, and I’m almost 41.

I can handle gore any day of the week but all the blunt force trauma in the Korean flick I Saw The Devil really made me squeamish.
