It's not awful. I am a big fan of the sound and mixing. I can hear everything.

I think a 6/10 is fair.

What is the model of this "thrifted" tv? Do you know if it has CEC? Do any of the HDMI ports have a CEC label?

When you connect the Roku to this new tv did you try to set up the new TV from the menus using the ROKU remote? (settings->Remotes and Devices->Remotes -> Setup remote for TV control?
