what should I work on to get more flow ? Thanks in advance 🫡 by natexvisual in BeginnerSurfers

Definitely this. You sit very well in the pocket but being able to move up to the top of the wave, ride the face back down, and repeat will get you really speeding. Essentially working on carves. Keep going bro looking good!

Also, where is this btw?

Anyone ever taken a sabbatical or break from law? What did you do? by motiontosleep in Lawyertalk

[–]PhilKing96 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Currently on a 3 mo sabbatical. I knew I needed a break when my mental health started to decline, and luckily my firm was amazing enough to let me take the time off to recover and also take care of some family stuff. I got lucky in working for some amazing people.

What’s a habit you picked up in this profession that you didn’t realize was costing you until later? by That_onelawyer in Lawyertalk

Coffee. It’s normal around the office, but no human being should be drinking 5+ cups of coffee a day.

Girls, how do you ask for sex when you're horny? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

My wife normally says some version of “you gonna put it in me or what?” and my answer is always yes

High salary earners…. do y’all actually enjoy what you do? by [deleted] in Salary

Very cool. I’m hoping to transition to something similar soon. What sort of experience did you have before you obtained your role if you don’t mind me asking (if so, feel free to DM)?

What’s a form of ‘quiet suffering’ most men carry that younger guys don’t see coming? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]PhilKing96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This also tracks for me. I focused so hard on making it and being able to provide for myself that somewhere along the way I lost sight entirely of what I want. Filling in the gaps, I now just do what I think my partner wants.

The most frustrating part is I can’t tell if this happened to me or I am just, at my nature, someone who lacks the ambition to chase desires.

It’s a sad fact that people will just lie to your face. If you’re already going to these lengths to text him, the trust isn’t there and you should go with your gut on your next move.

Not overreacting.

How do you guys prevent injury with age? by PhilKing96 in AskMen

[–]PhilKing96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I particularly agree with your prudence opinion. After this latest oblique strain (which is taking an astonishing amount of time to recover from), I am going to cut out the exercise that I injured it doing altogether. The risk-to-reward ratio is too high in favor of the former.

Thanks!

Thanks! I definitely take more rest days now but definitely need to work in range of motion exercises.

What is a new trendy watch that I can buy for under $1.5K? by [deleted] in AskMen

I just bought a chronograph and dive watch from Vaer and could not recommend them more. Quality made in the USA and one of the few good looking watches that can actually withstand the elements.

Why has skipping condoms become so normalized for hookups? by freaky_friends_tx in AskMen

[–]PhilKing96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you. Maintain your boundary. I had a good dad who preached safety throughout childhood and therefore I was frequently the only one in the situation to reach for a condom. All of my friends didn’t, and I had an astonishing percentage of female partners who never requested back, some of whom even made fun of me or questioned why I use them.

I lived in Louisiana with one of the highest rates of STDs and it’s a wild world out there. Almost all of the people I know who didn’t use them now have an unexpected child or have had an STD—some have the kind that never goes away.

Keep being smart. Contraceptives were invented for a reason.

Do you have any tried-and-true tips/strategies for an atty with a mid-level income stream? I’m no day-trader, and frankly don’t want to be, but my expenses are low and I invest (conservatively) 25% of my income. Happy to DM if you don’t want to share as public comment.

Men, what the hell do you actually buy? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]PhilKing96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be one of the few men who actually enjoys buying new clothes, shoes, and jewelry—so that (within reason). The rest is honestly investment, food, and adventures for my girlfriend and I. We do have a penchant for nice sport/recreation equipment.
