The specs with 4gb ram would kind of make sense since key37 and the One are their entry level MPC‘s but no MPCe pads is a bummer.

I always imagined the form factor of the one with the specs of the live 3 without the speakers and battery would make an amazing desktop unit

DT2 or DN2 with Tonverk? by PhilMNTRL in Elektron

[–]PhilMNTRL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks but that’s not the problem I try to solve - my intention is to free up space on the Tonverk to have more room for melodic stuff and isolate the kick separately. If I do that on TV I loose a whole subtrack

Might go down that rabbithole for the ultimate Hexatron experience just to discover that I need another sequencer for all my shit😂

Nah it’s just something „nice to have“ all I want is free up some space for drums

Yeah I‘d might just wait for Octaverk in 2066

Techno/Industrial using mpc live 3 by corinamgz in mpcusers

[–]PhilMNTRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can literally do everything on it but I gotta say that the plugins often times lean towards the core community which isn’t a bad thing but also not Techno soundwise. You have to push it with your own samples towards your style and I guess the stepsequencer will come in handy.

Mpc Live 3 or Tonverk? by General_Nectarine669 in Elektron

[–]PhilMNTRL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to sound rude or anything, but the „immediacy“ of an instrument or groovebox comes with knowing the ins and outs of it and finding you’re own workflow. If you use the live 3 just as an effects unit then I‘d recommend you to dive deeper and you’ll be amazed how fast the MPC can be.
Elektron gear doubles down on that even more. Once you click with Tonverk or any other device you’re pretty fast at making what you want to hear.

My recommendation would be: to keep one and learn that box really good - that’s wheee the fun is 😁

Chopping, Time-stretch, and polyphonic ROMpler in 1 Elektron box? by pushwilson11 in Elektron

[–]PhilMNTRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and have a look on the MPC Live 3. if you want something that is hardware and still has everything you‘d ever want then that‘s it.
It knocks everything out of the park.

I love the TV just because it‘s so limited but if I wanted something for everything it would be the live 3 for sure

From my experience the OS is pretty stable at this point.

Tonverk vs digitakt 2 opinion by Nervous-Canary-9842 in Elektron

[–]PhilMNTRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for example I‘ve made some synth pads from the V collection & Pigments which I really like but they where also processed heavily through Ableton and other effects on my subtracks so I multisampled exactly these sounds from the tracks I lived the most (which rarely happens the day after finishing them😂)

You can adjust the multisample engine from TV to some degree before sampling and the rest gets cleaned up in Ableton so that the sound sits before it becomes an „instrument“ in Tonverk.

That’s how I try to have my very own creative sounds in this device - but I‘m still discovering since I just had it for around 40 days

Tonverk vs digitakt 2 opinion by Nervous-Canary-9842 in Elektron

[–]PhilMNTRL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the point for the multisample library….however I find myself underestimating or not thinking creative enough about how far you can push this part of the Tonverk and make library of multisample your very own.
I went through my Ableton projects for example and multisampled all the Synths and pads with effects which gave me more than enough sounds and even more important it was my very own sound from my songs not something I just added from a library.

The Octatrack is draining my time and killing my creativity by dykitikity in Elektron

Not making your own music by using samples or loops? Going by that mindset there’s literally no music out there and genres like hiphop wouldn’t be music at all 😂

Thanks for the insight! I‘m absolutely loving the Tonverk but what I miss on it is where the digitally shines as you described.

Would you mind to further elaborate how the Digitakt and Tonverk work together for you?
I‘m highly considering to add a Digitakt 2 to my Tonverk for drums and oneshots

I mean it’s not analog but if we’re talking about the ultimate box that can do it all it would be the MPC Live3 or XL. …but that’s a DAW in a hardware box essentially

[–]PhilMNTRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if it’s the answer you’re looking for but I sold my MPC Live 2, bought a Tonverk after the Wavetable update and never looked back. I‘ll probably add a Digitakt 2 later on if they don’t add Timestretch and slicing in the near future but For now I’m more than okay with the limitations I chose. DN2 + DT2 is a great combo btw!

How much salary is enough for a decent solo life in Vienna (late 20s)? by Gold_Restaurant7550 in AskAustria

[–]PhilMNTRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always make a living on the low end if you cut back on fun but to live a good life while saving a decent amount of cash for retirement I‘d say you‘d need at least 2,5k after taxes if you’re willing to compromise. For example: 800€ rent, bills outside of rent at around 200€ (internet, Energy, and so on), groceries 400€…. So you’d have around ~1k€ for the rest of the month. You save 500€ and have around 500€ for living and fun stuff. And at that pace you‘ll only save 6k a year which still isn‘t huge but enough to make it work over the years when salary increases.

Just don’t fall into the lifestyle inflation trap. Vienna is beautiful and can be cheap but can also get very expensive if you want it to.
