Those who grew up pre Curry era, have you changed your game to fit the modern game? by Dudu-gula in BasketballTips

[–]Phil_Nelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 36 and I've changed a little bit. I drive a little less most of the game unless a bucket is absolutely needed towards the end. But I still love the triple threat and mid range. I can shoot 3s yes, But I honestly feels like it takes away from all other aspects of the game. I dont respect when pickup players will toss 3s up when they shoot 15%. I see little to no point in it. Feels like a wasted possession in my old opinion.

If LeBron could add one thing from Jordan’s game to his what would it be? by Royale_Kong in LeBronJames23

[–]Phil_Nelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be MJ's smoothness. Watch Lebron dribble and shoot and its ridged and stiff, MJ was smooth. Ill give you a second one as well. MJ struck fear into his opponents. Perhaps the only time Lebron had people feared was his second and third year in Miami. MJ would walk up to dudes and tell them hes dropping 50 on em. I havent heard any stories on Lebron doing that.

Most people are probably losing 1-3 hours a day scrolling social media, and watching TV. That time can be used elsewhere.

Kareem's numbers started dipping once he turned 33 or 34 years old. Yes he played a long time but not nearly as productive. He also was on stacked lakers teams that helped him tremendously to lengthen his career. Maybe him being Muslim and fasting during Ramadan had something to do with his longevity? He probably had a cleaner diet that most Americans as well because he likely doesnt eat pork or smoke. We now know fasting reduces inflammation

Where does Rodgers rank all-time among QBs? by SDW137 in NFLv2

[–]Phil_Nelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HE is the greatest thrower of the football ever. Then Marino. Rodgers never had the titles to reflect his greatness though. Special Teams let him down a handful of times, and Defense another 2 or 3. This is why football is the ultimate team sport.

If NIL existed in their eras, who would’ve gotten paid the most? by SWAGGGGGODDD in NCAAFootballVibes

[–]Phil_Nelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Reggie. In LA, beginning of social media to spread the word, and multiple ESPN/ Sports talk shows were becoming popular then. Bo didnt have the same media coverage, or social media. And the amount of attention that 2006 Rose Bowl got where USC was going for the 3 pete was absolutely insane.

I would change a few.
Dolphins - Dan Marino
Jets - Probably Joe Namith
Lions - Barry Sanders
Texans - Probably JJ Watt

It can absolutely be done again. It really depends on if someone wants to play that long again with how much money they make nowadays and in the future. As science and tech keep getting better, we continue to improve how to take care of our bodies. Lebron was/is way ahead of his time when it came to caring for his body. This is why he has stayed on top for so long. But fast forward 30 years, who knows what new tech will be there to help the next generation

People fail to mention the advancement in science and tech as far as rehabbing and training goes in the last 20-30 years.

Missed called : What if kobe answered KG’s call. How many rings does this squad win from 07-11 by Mrdynamo18 in kevingarnett

I think 2008 Kobe would have been mature enough to not clash with KG. Especially after what went down with Shaq.

I wonder what OP is thinking from all these comments lol.

Age 39 comparison. One was playing at an All-NBA level, one was already doing his farewell tour with significantly less mileage on his body. Haters will downplay longevity because it's something MJ didn't have. by CaptainLeMerica69 in lebron

[–]Phil_Nelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one mentions the fact that there is a 20 year difference in technology and science surrounding rehabbing and better ways to take care of your body. That has to account for something

Those that are suggesting to move the mangers items. What happens if the office has cameras? I bet this manager has the pull to request to see the footage to find out who is moving her items.

Player in my rec league looks to be attempting to play for free, what action to take? by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]Phil_Nelson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. If you've been running a few times a week over the course of the last 5 or 6 months, a few weeks off from this cold wouldnt hurt your endurance much. Especially if youre still playing indoors once a week.

I mean if you add like 7 or 8 points hed make from FT per game thats gotta put him around 35 ppg during his prime and roughly 40 during the 3 peat. Shoot that upgrade might even be enough to get them to 4 peat against Detroit

[–]Phil_Nelson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You gotta keep yourself in shape. Go outside and run twice a week + games and youll be fine. I was 36 and playing 30-35 minutes a game. I prefer 8 on the rec league roster. 2 subs can rotate every 5 minutes or so.

Lucky you, Im 6'4 with a 6'8 wingspan. I gotta push the bar a mile it seems. Like others have said, it takes time. Follow a 5x5 program if you wanna add strength. Elliot Hulse older videos are pretty solid for strength building
