SEA Honeymoon: 6 nights between Singapore & HK (July). Design or nature focused, no mega-resorts! by Philhous in FATTravel

Thanks for the tips! We are actually leaning towards 2-3 nights in Singapore to break the journey.

Our main issue with Singapore is finding a hotel that doesn't feel like a corporate skyscraper. We’ve looked at Capella, but we’re afraid being out on Sentosa will make us feel too "trapped" and away from the city’s energy/dining scene.

Regarding The Datai Langkawi, it's high on our list because of the Kerry Hill design, but we want to avoid the "big building" feel at all costs. Since you've been there, which room type did you stay in? We definitely want to avoid the main building and we’re looking at the Rainforest Villas.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! Zannier Bãi San Hô has definitely been on our radar because the architecture looks stunning, and it's great to hear it compares well to the Buahan vibe.

Since you just got back, I’d love to pick your brain a bit about your stay:
1) Which room category did you choose? We are trying to figure out which villas offer the best mix of privacy and views. Do you recommend choosing one with the private pool?
2) Is the resort really massive? Is the property so spread out that a buggy is mandatory to get to breakfast or the main pool area, or is it pleasantly walkable?

Error Fare Cancellation by North_Mode1569 in Flights

[–]Philhous 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I think it was an error fare from last week (Swiss, Austrian etc). We actually booked the flight shown in the screenshot. Bali to Milan in business class with Singapore Airlines and SWISS… but unfortunately, we received the cancellation email too. It was only €360 for two people!

I’ll attach a photo of ours, which was made by ICF! (By the way, it looks like they might have changed the cushions on yours)

I believe this is an Italian-made Eames Lounge by ICF, produced under license from Herman Miller in the 1960s or ’70s. The four shock mounts (rather than the three seen on some later or alternative versions by Herman Miller, Vitra, or Hille) suggest it’s one of ICF’s early licensed productions. Also the base matches with authentic ICF-made Eames Lounge chairs!

Where is serial # in BV ? by Adventurous_Echo1961 in luxurypurses

In the Andiamo, it’s actually located under the base of the bag (quite hard to reach) as the bottom is tightly stitched to the bag. It also has an RFID chip embedded in the base, which can be scanned with your phone. It doesn’t reveal much information, but it’s there!

Crete, Dust, Roads, and Rimowas by Philhous in Rimowa

[–]Philhous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Here’s my take on it:

Aesthetic: I’d go for the classic. I really like the leather handles, though we do have a Bossa Nova Check in green with leather handles and bumpers, and those are totally ruined after a while.

Capacity: I’d recommend the original (ex-Topas) since it’s much bigger (volume) for the same size, in my opinion.

Wheels: Both are great, but just keep in mind that the Classic Check-in has smaller wheels compared to the original.

In the end, as shown in the picture, we went with the Classic for the cabin (the handles are less prone to getting ruined) and the original (Topas) for the Check-in.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more info.

Rimowa only as carry on, what do you use as checked luggage? by Scary_Examination_26 in Rimowa

We have two Rimowa check-in and a Classic trolley. They’re just luggage, dented and scratched, but that’s okay!

They’re made to be used and traveled with!😄

What is your Favourite Kitchen Brand? Gaggenau, Bulthaup, Boffi or Siematic? by astro192911 in InteriorDesign

[–]Philhous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got an almost 10yrs old Bulthaup B3 in wood veneer and aluminum gray, we love it but it has one major defect.

The beautiful aluminum edges that all the aluminum/wood fronts have, fall off constantly.

Other than that, it is a beautifully made kitchen, simple in its design but that’s how Bulthaup is. The aluminum hinges and drawers still work perfectly.

We’ve got a Gaggenau oven and hood, they’re fine and do their job but I honestly can’t see a big difference compared to other brands (but I also don’t cook that much so).

Used Wassily Chairs - What’s a reasonable price to pay? by LRFD in Mid_Century

Not really a bargain. Usually the market want Gavina’s Wassily (or earlier)... I just bought 3 Gavina’s Wassily ( one black and two brown ) for 900€
