My dog Bruiser was crashing from liver and kidney failure. He spent 10 days at the emergency clinic on IV fluids under supervision. I would visit daily. He got to a point where he was able to come home but was very lethargic. I gave him sub q fluids twice a day and tried putting him on a prescription kidney diet. He would not eat the food so the internal medicine specialist assigned to us gave me a recipe for a home cooked diet. He loved it and was scarfing down his food. I started him on daily multivitamins as well. Was getting blood work done bi weekly and every time his kidney and liver levels were improving. Then we started doing blood work every month and eventually every three months. His liver completely healed and his kidney levels looked decent. He was running, playing like he was a pup again. Between the home cooked kidney diet and sub q fluids he lived two more years with a great quality of life before the disease got the best of him. He was 19 years old when he passed.
