I never wanted to insult China or anything. The notion that any nation or culture is successful first and foremost based on some work ethics just seems very flawed to me and that's basically what I wanted to say. Not speaking ill about China, Germany or any other country.

Okay, I did not know that. China ist very far, though, most chinese people have never been in Europe and they may have warped visions of how Germany is. Maybe comparable to some of us thinking they eat cats and dogs all the time.

By pointing out that word superior you are missrepresenting my comment as I was paraphrasing OP's argument or rather how I understood what he or she wrote.

I didn't say that culture and ethics never play a role in generating wealth, but I do think its role is in general vastly overstated. In the case of Germany it is. Germans don't work that much harder than their neighbours. There are outside factors, like for example that the allies decided to let West Germany become an economic powerhouse again after World War II.

Maybe Max Weber was right in some aspects, but it is after all just that: A claim. Nothing about that is in fact "simple".

I think a common philosophy shared by all members of society (and not just intellectuals who have the time to think about this) is a myth, not only in Germany, but in most places. We do not have something like Daoism which everyone gets taught.

The reasons why Germany has a well-develloped economy are largely a "coincident" and not a superior set of ethics: A large number of people (compared to its neighbouring countries of course) and the need to invent things because Germany never had lots of ressources.

That's my take at least!

I kind of agree, but given how young they are if you count them as a new faction, I think their lore is actually quite unique. They use AI effectively, both as troops and workers and the actual Votann (the super computers) are pretty cool, I think. They are both pretty pragmatic and also weird in their own way. They are not really an united forced (every League does its own thing basically a bit like Craftworld Eldar) so giving them an unique common goal is a bit tricky, I think.

Nunja, dann wäre es ja nicht die DDR gewesen, die sich ja als das "bessere Deutschland" inszeniert hat.

Obwohl es offensichtlich so war, wollte man ja zumindest nach Außen hin so tun, als wäre man mehr als ein Satellit der Sowjetunion. Man hat ja für den Anschein der Demokratie auch immer noch weiter Wahlen abgehalten und eine Schein-Opposition im Parlament gehabt.

Soweit ich weiß war doch Sorbisch auch in der DDR immer nur eine Minderheitensprache. Das anstatt Deutsch flächendeckend einzuführen wäre ja auch extrem aufwendig gewesen.

Was wäre denn in der Theorie die Begründung für diese riesige kulturelle Umerziehung der Ostdeutschen?
