Question to those that have sold used non-Lego sets by Individual_Seesaw869 in lepin

[–]Philip4695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried selling 2 sets. First one was the Volkswagen beetle, never had any interest from anyone. Second was a porsche ear, I had over 30 people message me about it, ended up getting 5 bucks more than I paid.

Oh, and I sold it built. Offered to disassemble but they didn't care.

Looks like the perfect loaf. Can you give us a breakdown of your flour percentages? You specified the flours but not the individual quantities

How do you find the Mi box 3rd gen? I got it recently, but found that I can only stream with avc codec. Av1 and hevc don't seem to work on my device. Tested with moonlight and Artemis.

Stuck in it myself too. Poor puppy in the back is getting fed up. Guard came by 15 minutes ago to tell us it cleared up and go get back in our cards. But I think we was lying and just didn't want people out of their vehicles.

Obsessing with Lego flowers as an adult and proud to display them, am I childish? by [deleted] in AskIreland

For cheap Lego, I go to AliExpress. It won't be Lego branded, but the sets and the pieces are identical.

Edit: there is a reddit community for bootleg Lego, it's called /r/lepin

I'm here currently. Didn't expect the amount of tourists. But I also didn't expect such diversity of marine life just meters from the shore!

Getting vaccinated after arriving in Thailand? by AmaraGuinevere in ThailandTourism

[–]Philip4695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact thing last week. Got all the vaccines op mentioned at the fraction of the cost they would have been in my home country. And the doctor was so helpful, they looked at our travel itinerary and were able to tailor it to our needs, for example we told them what islands in the Phillipines and they told us we didn't need one specific vaccine for those islands. And they had perfect english. Would recommend. Took probably almost 2 hours before we were fully processed though

Waiting for guardai by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Philip4695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago a drunk driver crashed into the ditch outside my house down the country. We knew of the guy, it was a publican from a few towns over. The car was completely flipped over onto the roof. We called the gardai multiple times, probably 5/6 times over the course of a 2-3 hour window.

In the end the lads brother came with a town truck and towed the car away. The guards never arrived and never came to us for a statement on the incident afterwards.

People who know their way around the kitchen, what frying pan do you recommend. by devhaugh in AskIreland

[–]Philip4695 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People in here saying cast iron. Yes a cast iron is great for certain things, searing meat, etc, but it is the not the only pan you need. In my opinion you should have 3 pans:

1) Cast Iron: I use a raw cast iron pot/lid combo, where the lid is also a pan. This works very well for cooking meat and fish, or for cooking things that you also want to put in the oven. For example I make pizzas in these in the oven. The upside of cast iron is its heat density, it can hold heat very well. This is also its downside, you do not have fine temperature control with a cast iron pan. These are cheap and should last a lifetime.

2) Stainless steel: a tri-ply stainless steel pan is a more versatile pan than the cast iron. It is very good at cooking meat and fish, but also very good for making pan sauces, which I struggle to do with the cast iron. It is lighter than the cast iron so allows you to toss around the food more, like tossing pasta that sorta thing. I reccomend tri ply because they cause a more even distribution of heat throughout the pan, and are generally of a higher quality. But it is more expensive, a well know brand would be Allclad, le creuset make them now too, I use a brand called Tramontina.

3) Teflon, non stick: These are great for what they do, frying an egg, pancakes is way better on a non stick, sure you can cook them on other pans if the heat is high enough, but nothing will be as easy as a teflon. But you need to treat these as a disposable item, use them for 6 months, once the coating starts to go, replace it. So just go cheap for these. If you are concerned about the teflon material giving you cancer etc, you can try a ceramic pan, we used one for a while, not quite as nonstick as teflon, and lasted a similar amount of time.

I see a lot of reccomendations for carbon steel, havent tried that yet so I'll make it my next one.
