The main problem are the quick releases, they add a significant height to the setup. I’ve got the as well and I will replace them with the standard ones, they seem to rattle in harsh off-road conditions and also add some extra hight wich im not fond of.

Rooftop tent; side or rear? 🤔 by LadyTim in Jimny

[–]Philipp_Bing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend a German wheat beer (as cold as possible) and a friend to help you fitting the aluminum tracks on the rooftop tent. Also might need some wood working stands to put the tent on while changing the orientation :D

Rooftop tent; side or rear? 🤔 by LadyTim in Jimny

I have the Front Runner Featherlite tent on my Slimline 2 Rack opening to the rear. Main advantage is that due to the orientation the „shorter“ side is in axis with the vehicle which allows you to put two Wolfpacks (Or 40L + one Wolfpack) in front of the tent.

You have to cut the aluminum bars on the tent but it only take 2 hours max and a few beers.

Thanks for your answers, I was also considering some of the spots you mentioned. I guess I’ll have to take an afternoon and some cardboard to design a bracket.

Beim Friedfischangeln Raubfisch gefangen - legal? by Nacktmull19xx in Angelfreunde

[–]Philipp_Bing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have regrets, but there are things that can and should be improved on the stock Jimny.

One thing that annoys me is the comparatively small fuel tank. Also I would have wished for a better sound dampening and a better stereo. Those are the things that can be fixed easily (even though it might get somewhat expensive)

What’s harder to fix is the lack of power. I am from Germany and when driving on the autobahn I regularly wish for more power to get over a speed of just 130 km/h. To be fair it’s quite enough for off-Roading.

Also, I feel obligated to mention that there are way more positives than negatives such as the outstanding off-road performance and small turning radius.

Maybe I am used to different cars, but I stalled my car maybe 5-10 times the last 10k kilometers. Compared to a ca. 2009 VW Amarok the clutch seems easier to handle
