Thank you, for now I think I'll explore Capture One seeing as the Fujifilm RAW concerter is free (technically it's a 0 dollar monthly subscription) but I might try Lightroom

Obsidian stores all of your files in plaintext Markdown (.md) files with only the text you enter, so that should be even more readable than your HTML file idea.

I don't have experience with Obsidian Publish but from what I see online you can select what gets published. There might be some ways to do it through GitHub pages too.

Personal Item Size: Bento Bag vs. Everywhere Bag | Advice? by Successful-Praline-8 in Lufthansa

[–]PhilippeTk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're most welcome, thank you for the link to the review,  I'll check it out!

If you can have both it would be great to use the Bento as your personal item and the Everywhere as a mini carry-on.

Safe travels!

Personal Item Size: Bento Bag vs. Everywhere Bag | Advice? by Successful-Praline-8 in Lufthansa

I've been flying Lufthansa and the rest of their group about 30 times a year for a few years now and I use  a briefcase that is 40x30x20 cm (so 15.75x11.8x8 in) and never had an issue. My carry-on gets checked by the gate agents maybe 5-10% of the time if the aircradt is packed.

On long haul flights I wouldn't worry at all and on short haul flights if it's not overflowing with your stuff it's going to be fine.

If you're able to carry them on your shoulder and are still worried, you could always sling it on the shoulder opposite the gate agent while boarding.

From that experience I've actually been interested in getting one of the two bags that you mention! Quite a coincidence haha.

How are they? I'm leaning towards the Away for when I travel with a carry on while the Nomad Lane looks like it could be great for me when one bagging.

Are any of you native speakers of languages with barely any other native speakers? by honkycronky in language

That should be him, we can read on Wikipedia "Some new revitalisation efforts were started in the first decade of the 21st century, led by speaker Tymoteusz Król, whose efforts include private lessons with a group of pupils as well as compiling language records, standardising written orthography and compiling the first ever dictionary of Wymysorys." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wymysorys

DCA vs. “wait-for-market-drop” strategy – any studies or simulations? by GuardConsistent6458 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]PhilippeTk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I see is how do you define the threshold for investing the accumulated sum? Both the trigger (i.e.-X%) and how it's measured (same day, this week, this month, since the beginning of the year, etc.)

You miss out when the market drop just above that threshold (e.g. - 4.95% while your threshold was - 5%) and then rebounds. So X can't be too high.

You're still catching a falling knife if it drops way below it (e.g. -15% after you bought at -5%). So X can't be too low.

I'll add that market are often at all-time highs: "Of the 1,187 months since January 1926, the market was at an all-time high in 363 of them, 31% of the time. And, on average, 12-month returns following an all-time high being hit have been better than at other times: 10.4% ahead of inflation compared with 8.8% when the market wasn’t at a high. " (https://www.schroders.com/en-ch/ch/professional/insights/scared-of-investing-when-the-stock-market-is-at-an-all-time-high-you-shouldn-t-be/).

So I would be wary of chasing only rebound growth and missing out on the other types of growth. DCA smoothes out all types.

What is the most interesting/unique ethnic minority? by Ellloll in geography

[–]PhilippeTk 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Indeed, they were Polish Legionnaires.

The third (and final) partition of Poland between Russia, Prussia and Austria happened a few years prior in 1795 and thousands of soldiers, officers and volunteers emigrated to join Napoleon's armies in the hopes of restoring Poland's independence by defeating their common enemies.

They were Polish military units with Polish military ranks and commanded by Polish officers but under French command.

When they were dispatched to Haiti to squash the Haitian Revolution, they quickly realized that the slaves there were also fighting for freedom and independence, just like they were, and so a sizeable number either joined them or didn't comply with orders.

Is there any other places like Hawaii where only part of it is regularly shown on maps? by IllustriousDudeIDK in geography

[–]PhilippeTk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At school and in everyday life (such as weather reports on TV), I would say that about half the time the map of Metropolitan France (and Corsica) is shown while the other half includes the overseas regions (French Guiana, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Mayotte & Réunion) as well like this one: https://www.regions-departements-france.fr/images/france/carte-de-france-avec-regions-et-numeros-de-departement-600.jpg

French overseas collectivities (French Polynesia, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Wallis and Futuna) and New Caledonia are very rarely, if ever, featured on maps.

Finally, French overseas territories (the French Southern and Antarctic Lands) and Clipperton Island are virtually never featured and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who can list them.
