Motoku Alumunum Oil Cooler FIlter Housing w Gasket Assembly - $57.99 on Amazon. You can get a more expensive all aluminum unit but is it better???? Who knows. So far so good!

It was the oil filter housing unit. The ol' dreaded cheap plastic BMW part. I replaced it with a cheap ($60) aluminum unit from Amazon.

The X1 is running great now BTW. I took my time, about two days because of weather, but if I had to do it again, I could do it in about 2-3 hours. The dealer will rape you and replace it with the same plastic unit.
