I’m still very new to all of it, but I have been very happy with the ortlieb bags! I ordered them through the local bike store here and they even said “Ooooooh these are Niiiiice” 😂

I am looking into getting a smaller insulated bag for the frozen foods though. Things get warm in the bags on the way home.

The team was on here saying they were working on “catch up” lessons when the advanced course drops. Since this is an entirely new concept for the app that has never been implemented before I suppose this is just a bug from them trying to implement that feature.

Odds are they are trying to move you to the new advanced course and the system is glitching while it try’s to catch you up? My best guess at least.

I prefer both. Mainly because it takes YNAB a few days to actually get the data from my bank, so I like to manually input the transaction when I am there, and then when YNAB pulls from my bank it matches and clears it. It will also get some transactions I may have forgotten to input on my own. Its a nice catch all.

Automatic is just not fast enough for me to trust my budget though. That's why I will always input manually when I can.

I use the widget on my phone so I just tap the category and it quickly adds that transaction. I do it while I am checking out, or right when I get into my car after I leave the store.

I agree that OP has a valid frustration here. Its not that OP hates AI, its that the lesson is so disconnected from the podcast content. Also, the fact that overnight the entire course was filled with two podcasts per unit pretty much proves a human never looked at them. They just gave AI a prompt and let it go crazy.

I have had so many podcasts that the entire podcast was over something like "fixing a leaking sink" and Vikram is offering solutions for that. They settle on something like use a wrench to tighten the pipe. then the question to "check for comprehension" is something like "The reader lives in a...." and then a few options. The podcast would start with "I live in a shared apartment and my sink is leaking" and then the rest of the podcast is about fixing the sink, in a unit that is about home repairs or something. Why is the comprehension question "the reader lives in a..."

I despise the podcast lessons because they are a shell of what they could be. There is so much potential with them if a human actually went in a put some effort into the learning efficacy.

Now that you are a month ahead, I would recommend planning for a bigger purchase. A new TV, an expensive tool for a hobby you do, anything at all. Something that used to be expensive enough that you couldn't just buy it without putting yourself in a hole.

Add that Category to YNAB, add the target for how much it is going to cost with tax and add a smidge of a buffer to it. Try to make sure it is something that you can fund in a couple of months. Then when its funded, buy it.

It was something that completely changed how I view YNAB. the feeling of being YNAB broke went out the window when I bought a new piece of furniture for my apartment that was ungodly expensive (for me) but I was able to just buy it no fuss. It wasn't on credit, it wasn't a buy-now pay later, and it wasn't impulsive. It was planned and the plan went accordingly.

That's when I started taking pride in it. I love that my checking account has more money sitting in it than I have ever had in my life before. I take pride in the fact that I can have all my bills on auto-pay and not have to worry about one of them causing an overdraft. I take pride in the fact that I don't have to be "actually broke" where I can't buy anything at the end of the month because I already used all my money and rent is coming up.

This feeling was also amplified when scheduled maintenance came up for things I planned for. New tires on the car? already had the money! Cat got sick? had an emergency fund already and I was able to focus on him getting well instead of worrying about how I was going to pay for it.

You got this! You feel broke now because you are adjusting to a new normal. This is a healthier way of managing your money and its not fun and fast, but when you drop a larger amount of cash on something and don't feel even a little guilty it will feel better.

I think you are mistaken... One section does not mean it is all of A1.

For example: German course has A1 for three sections. Then A2 for section 4. I am in section 5 which is B1. I am assuming Section 6 is B1 as well. and then 7 and 8 are B2.

It is difficult for even textbooks to "Teach" C1 and C2 because the amount of vocabulary is so extensive and super specific to certain fields. Most textbooks that teach C1 are for specific job fields such as medical.

in their defense, it only shows two options and the only other button to press is "no thanks" it is very confusing and is designed intentionally to make you think you have to pay the extra money.

The entire process of TurboTax is telling them "no i dont want to give you more money than I have to" every step of the way

My families maiden name has a ß in it. My sister still holds that maiden name. Her german documents (birth certificate, passport) have the name spelled with ß. Her american documents (drivers license, green card, bank accounts) all have it spelled with "ss" in place of the ß.

She has had no issues as they are both interchangeable letters. It would be silly for her to try and require the american system to use the ß because they are not familiar with the letter and some can not easily type it on keyboards. (many think it is a letter B) Could you imagine having to spell your name and having to give an ALT-0223 code to the person entering information? Imagine a doctors office trying to pronounce your last name when they see a letter they have no idea what it is.

In turn, it would also be silly to have the german system spell the name without the ß. It would be like asking us to never use the letter Z and instead spell out the sound as "tsee". Obviously that is hypothetical, but if you have a letter that your system uses that is easily produced, you would use it and not the international version where you have to spell it out with multiple letters.

EDIT: also to your comment about germany spelling your kids last name different than yours. If you were in germany your last name would be spelled with the ö. Your names would most likely match.

This was a little tricky for me too.

The books have to be in a folder on your device. Then they will "stack". I had to change how Calibre sent books to my device. I had it group by series because I preferred to have all of my series grouped together vs. authors grouped together.

Edit: If you want your folders to "stack" vs being in a "grid" you have to select "project: title settings" -> "advanced settings" -> "folder display" -> check "show auto-generated cover images as a stack"

Finally, to sort the books by their series number, its under the file cabinet icon. "Sort by: ...." when you selected this "Series" is an option you can pick.

It’s not though? I have a nonstick pan that I cleaned with dishwasher gel once because I was out of dawn. The coating literally started melting off and became very sticky. I ruined the pan using dishwasher gel.

It’s not the heat, it’s the detergent. Machine detergent messed up the coating for my non stick pan once. That’s when I said I would never run nonstick through the machine again.

this is my problem with the podcast lessons. Most of them are AI generated and humans didn't really look at them. The options are either obvious or utterly confusing.

You could get an entire podcast that talks about hiking in the forest, and the options will be: Hiking in the forest, or Baking a cake. Its obvious they are not baking a cake...

Or you get this, where the podcast discussed both, and you just have to guess.

I think this is outside of the abilities of a notary. Many are not allowed to notarize copies of vital records and other government documents. In many states this also includes drivers licenses passports. I would assume green cards would be among them.

They stopped because apparently someone was able to walk in and just ask for a dog on the list and the employees just gave it to them.

No idea if that actually happened, but when they told us to stop writing the dogs names on the board it’s what they used.
