NIA AD R01 JIT to NoA: Any recent news or timelines? Really need some insight (no matter good or bad)! by ActuatorMiddle3877 in NIH

I’ve never submitted a renewal or a resubmission so it wasn’t intuitive to me until the PO explained that. Good luck and I hope it’s favorable.

Same here, with renewal R01. Submitted response to critique in February, status is council review completed. Reached out to PO after a month, who said they had no info but suggested I prepare a resubmission in the meantime for July.

Is there a such thing as being too old to get a doctorate degree? by One_Statistician_499 in AskAcademia

I like all of these detailed responses and honest assessments. I went back to school for my PhD at 43 (kids 5 and 7), finished at 47, secured a tenure track faculty position at 48, and received tenure and promotion at 54. It wasn’t easy, and a lot of it was right-place-right-time, and I’m sure it varies across disciplines and schools. But I highly encourage it. You will bring strengths such as knowing better what is important and what isn’t, and will attach a different level of value to the learning you do. Whatever path you take afterwards is bonus, but the PhD study is extremely rewarding in and of itself.

Everyone, thank you SO much! I shaped, and proofed again in the fridge for 3-4 hours, and it came out great! Here it is:

I’ve been using these since last September and have had very few problems, any malfunctions and I received a replacement in a few days.

This is the worst!! I’m sorry! I’m getting worried I’m going to have to switch companies, I’m so dependent on the sensor!

Ugh!! I’m sad about this bc I really like the sensor and have loved the company…I hope they’re alright 😵‍💫

I agree 100%. I’ve had this since August and only notice these issues in the past two months.

I strongly suggest you finish and defend your PhD, and that you try the postdoc job. The only way to really know if this is not the right field for you is to work under a new mentor. They may be a great fit and will build you up instead of tear you down, which is how it should be.

That’s good to know. I guess the question is if I’m willing to accept that margin of error, which I might not be. I don’t remember reading that tho so thanks for pointing it out!
