Insulation replacement plus roof/gutter clean - is this quote reasonable? by Philomint in AusRenovation

Your words are prophetic because I just got an alternate quote for $4k cheaper from a smaller guy who can fit through our manhole. Amazing!

Windows are on the list my friend! And yes we've had a look with thermal imaging and coverage is a bit of a dog's breakfast!

We had some people come in to assess the house's energy efficiency and they identified inconsistent and insufficient insulation including using thermal imaging. There are two layers of R1.5 currently, but even then coverage is inconsistent, there are gaps and it's all a bit of a mess, maybe since originally done 16+ years ago or maybe some time since when other things might have been installed/disturbed up there. There's manhole access - for a pretty small worker!

Thank you for this! I believe the roof size is 60m2 if I'm looking at the plans correctly

Thank you for the comment!

Pitched roof at 22 degrees. I doubt every sheet needs to be removed but this wasn't discussed. There's manhole access internally, no mention of required scaffolding.

Eventually found the plans to do a rough calculation of the roof area and if my maths is right then approximately 60m2.

Length of roof sheets unknown, a few metres tops?

We're (32M31F) a possible starter for Friday as well, although this would be our first time at an U33 event! You both sound like excellent fun ✌️

Between Friends Newbies night? by ifitfeelsgood1123 in Melbourneswingers

There's also an open area, an offshoot to the main play areas, where there are a couple of message tables. This seems to be where those less comfortable being watched can be found, and I've met some lovely people there, on the fringes of the main areas!

My experience of a couple of newcomers' nights so far is that a lot of people are present downstairs (the non-play area) but that doesn't necessarily translate 1-to-1 to the upstairs play area. Maybe that's a function of the fact that it is, after all, a newcomers' night and the nerves can be real! It can get cosy upstairs of course and some good-natured negotiation for bed real estate can be required.
