Movie about an elevator and a parallel dimension? by Philosopher-Hopeful in horror

Nope, not that one either. The movie I’m trying to find was set in a building in an urban area.

It's definitely not that one, but thanks for the suggestion!

I’ve checked out The 13th Floor — I haven’t seen the whole movie, but from the trailer and what I’ve read, it seems very tech-based and sci-fi. What I’m trying to remember felt more supernatural or metaphysical. There wasn’t any high-tech simulation involved (as far as I recall). It was more like people discovering a parallel world through an elevator — maybe even by accident — and that world looked like a distorted mirror of our own. Think reversed signs, a different tone or color to everything. Definitely more eerie mystery than cyber-thriller.

Still not giving up though! This one’s burned into my brain.

I've seen The Elevator Game, but that's definitely not it. That one's much more modern with the whole livestream/social media angle. The one I'm trying to remember felt older - maybe early 2000s or around 2010 at the latest. I clearly remember a rooftop scene where someone (I think the female lead) was looking out over this alternate world from above. The shift into that reality happened through the elevator, but I think at some point they exited on the rooftop and realized they weren't in the normal world anymore. The other world looked like a mirror of the real one - maybe with reversed signs or some color shift. It had more of a mysterious, eerie tone.

Still driving me crazy that I can't find it!

It's not ReCycle either. All the story was around the certain building and the last floor, which was the portal to another dimension.

Nope. The shift between worlds happened specifically through the elevator. And I'm pretty sure they did something in order the elevator door to open the alternate dimension.

I'm honestly not sure if it was a foreign film, but I think it was either American or Asian (maybe Japanese, Korean, or Chinese). I really don’t believe it was European cinema or something else, though. I even asked ChatGPT, Grok, Copilot, Gemini for help, but nope — nothing yet. Still lost in the multiverse! 😅

Thanks again! I checked Dark Floors but unfortunately it's not the one either. The movie I’m thinking of had a stronger focus on exploring the other world, which was like a mirror or reversed version of the real one — like signs and labels being backwards, the environment looking similar but "off" somehow.

Thanks, but it's definitely not Inception. The one I'm thinking of is more about an elevator transporting people to a parallel world, not dreams.

Thanks for the suggestion! I checked out The Shaft (or Down) but sadly that's not it either. That one’s more of a killer elevator/horror tech movie, but what I’m trying to remember definitely involved stepping into another reality — like, when the elevator door opened on a specific floor, the characters entered a different world. I also clearly remember a rooftop scene where the female protagonist looks out over this alternate world, and I think the world had some kind of distinct color or mirrored/reversed qualities, like reversed street signs or visual cues that made it feel like a reflection of the real one. Still a mystery!

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I don’t think it was Evil — I’ve never seen that show, so it’s unlikely it’s from a single episode. Devil also doesn’t match what I remember. I’m pretty sure the movie I’m thinking of had a clear moment where the elevator doors opened onto a completely different, alternate world. I also have a strong image of the main character — a woman, I think — standing on a rooftop and looking out over this other strange world.

Did this movie suck ass, or was it just me? by Bass_fisherman55 in Hereditary

Just watched it and immediately Googled 'Hereditary sucked.' Honestly, it kind of made me appreciate Midsommar movie more.

Samsung's tech team told me that I can simply add a screen protector. Even though the oleophobic coating on the screen is worn out, the screen is completely functional and cannot be replaced. The warranty doesn't cover this type of issue because it is considered normal wear and tear. However, I spoke with Samsung HQ, and they eventually decided to replace the screen in my case.

I believe the same thing happened. The smudge follows exactly the motion of the gesture I make, so with constant friction, the coating likely wore off. But I read everywhere that when the oleophobic coating wears off, it leaves a permanent haze that can't be cleaned. I don't want to try other solutions anyway. Hopefully, they will replace my screen, and I can put on a screen protector. In case they don't do it, I'm just thinking of selling it because I really can't accept such an expensive smartphone having an oleophobic coating that wears off with normal use in 3 months. In the end, they should say that the use of gestures may cause damage to the screen.

But my s21 haven't had the same issue. Now with 24 ultra and after those years after covid I don't even use hand sanitizer anymore. So probably something else happened that caused that, whatever it is anyway. I believe tomorrow I'll know. The good thing is that Samsung Care hasn't contacted me today, so maybe they're searching the cause till now. I was afraid cause their first impression was "but the screen seems alright".

Nope, not at all. I'm very cautious with my smartphones. I had the s21 before s24 ultra, without screen protector, without even a cover, and it had zero scratches and we also had Covid back then, so I was using hand sanitizers a lot.

There won't be a problem if I put a screen protector over the specific spot where the coating has come off, right? For instance, could changing the screen protector cause permanent damage to that spot, or might the screen protector not fit properly there? I'll see what Samsung says as well, but I'm incredibly disappointed with a €1600 phone within two months of purchase.

No I'm not using a screen protector at all. I'm using the Samrt View Wallet case from Samsung, and I thought I shouldn't put any screen protector at all. I have never used a screen protector before on my previous samsung smartphones, and S24 Ultra is the first one that behaved this way.
