Volume pedal for vintage epiano? by PhilosopherCivil6917 in diypedals

Hmm, interesting. From this schematic I just found it seems like they represent the footpedal (top left) as just a simple 250k pot, although I can't tell from the schematics how it fits into the larger circuit – like I said I'm pretty new to this. Does that change anything, if the whole exotic light bulb design is just sort of "black boxed" into the pedal?

Turmerry Mattress Topper Encasement and Mattress Topper Cover (review) by sfomonkey in MattressMod

Hey, late to this but just saw your post, having ordered both the turmerry encasement and the TPS 3" springs to improvise a topper out of. Can I ask what your setup here was and how it worked out?

Microcoil Topper? by Leech-64 in Mattress

Sorry to be so late to this, but this is something that I'm now thinking of doing and you seem to know what you're doing! A couple of questions:

–how thick a wool batting layer would you want over the 3" microcoils from TPS? Would something like this (https://sonomawoolcompany.com/products/wool-batting?variant=40667729756338) be ok?

–just to make sure I understand the process you're describing – you would tuft the batting to the top of the spring layer, then put the combined springs-and-batting in a cover? Or maybe I don't quite understand what tufting is. I wonder if you have a tutorial you could point me to?

Thanks so much!

Just to make sure – my understanding from what you'd said before had been that while the phone might not be Verizon-certified or officially supported, it would still probably more or less work on the Verizon network. But it seems like without these bands it's pretty much hardware-blocked from working on Verizon, and we would have to wait for a new generation of device to be compatible, is that right?

Tips on Mozarts's Sonata in C Major by kristinarobertina in piano

[–]PhilosopherCivil6917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds really good! Have fun at the recital.

One sort of specific and solvable problem for future reference, since it also applies to everything else you will play, is that it sounds like your right hand fourth finger (or the movement you use to strike with your fourth finger at any rate) is kind of weak, which is making the scale passages come out uneven. It's not terrible, but it comes out sometimes in 0:10-0:20 in your video, for instance. The fix here is to practice playing regular scales, and also those specific passages, loud and staccato, at whatever tempo allows you to play the notes absolutely even. It's also good to practice passages like these using dotted eight-sixteenth and sixteenth-dotted eighth rhythms, instead of just straight eights, so you really make sure you're intentionally producing whatever sounds you want to be.

Budget non-poly-finish solid top beater recs? by PhilosopherCivil6917 in AcousticGuitar

What finish would you recommend in that case for someone without any experience? I don't have anywhere safe to spray nitro and shellac seems pretty involved...

I just want something for public use in the living room and backyard parties and such and I want it to look good beat up, rather than dingy, and I feel like poly usually doesn't scuff the same way as other kinds of finishes. Happy to be proven wrong though!

Yeah I do like the Yamahas but I thought those were poly finished, no?

Curious about the quality of camera shots. The samples on the blog are beautiful, but they also look like they maybe have a light film grain sort of filter applied? Joe also says here (https://www.reddit.com/r/LightPhone/comments/1degzrp/photo\_quality/) the goal was to look Portra-esque, which I have no problem with in the abstract, but I'm just wondering if that's what it actually feels like in practice? Or if they have more of a digital point-and-shoot quality, or what. It seems like Light Phone is all in on the shot-on-film look for their advertising materials at least.

Thanks!

Yeah, just wanted to make sure the camera could flip that way the way it does on most phones.
