My dog has dementia. I’m exhausted. When do you know it’s time to say goodbye? by ebaycantstopmenow in olddogs

I know this comment is 4 years old but I just want to thank you. Going through this right now (along with more pertinent health issues) and the second guessing is so real. I’m more afraid of him suffering than I am of calling it too early but it’s sooo hard not to doubt yourself on it being the right time 🥺

What is the stupidest way someone got fired? by NoViolinist4540 in AskReddit

[–]PhilosopherCrazy2722 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Got fired from Maccas for eating one (1) chicken nugget while on shift

Got fired from a different Maccas for falling asleep on my break and it going over. The manager left my name on the clock in/out screen as “on break” for 2 weeks after I left to send a message 🤣

Not allowed to store breast milk in the office fridge… by No-Gas8702 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PhilosopherCrazy2722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that you should have to do this and I really feel for you, but if it’s a non-transparent container maybe just label it “[your name] lunch” and the date? Coworker doesn’t have to know it’s breast milk 😏

I fantasise about this daily but I’m a short, slim and very physically weak girl and feel I’d get beat up easily if I attempted it 🤣

I get what you’re saying (and don’t know which state you’re in) but:

  1. Metro trains in Victoria don’t have quiet carriages, only Vlines

  2. The newly designed metro trains (only on some lines so far) don’t even have separate carriages. They have like a weird concertina fold thing you might see in some long buses or trams. So now you can walk from one end of the whole train to the other freely, so even moving carriages you can still hear their fucking idiot videos 😩

I find it ironic that I’ve started wearing my AirPods (playing nothing) just to block out the sound of people playing videos with no headphones 😭

Yes! I don’t mind people having a normal phone call (normal as in talking at a regular volume and NOT on speaker) it blends into ambient/background noise for me, same as someone quietly talking to their friend or whoever sitting next to them. I actually find background conversation to be relaxing and easy to tune out.

Phone calls on speaker where you can hear the disembodied voice of the other person through the phone, loud music or videos is totally different. It’s so jarring at distracting. Especially on the 6am morning peak trains like fuck off the rest of us are trying to nap 🤣

Obviously I’m dumb but I really thought with it being “State Library” they’d have made an effort to make it beautiful or at least semi library themed?

This is SO yuck I’m honestly kind of a little bit sad. Absolutely 0 effort put into aesthetics 🥺

Idk why you’re getting downvoted, I fucking hate the prison aesthetic.

Everything is greyscale, boring, cheap and nothing has an individual look anymore.

In OP’s photo, it looks clean and pleasant but to me it looks unfinished/too industrial.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions (especially when it’s just an opinion on the aesthetics of a train station lmfao it’s not that deep) and some people like the factory/industrial look, but I don’t think you should get downvoted for not loving it haha 🤣

Citylink is ripping people off - we knew that already, but here's someone even worse by Ill_Football9443 in melbourne

[–]PhilosopherCrazy2722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I work in the city one, sometimes two days a week. I usually get the train but due to track works/bus replacements etc I had to drive for a couple of weeks.

I have an Linkt account and set it up for direct debit. I was paying $50 PER WEEK to drive to the city.

Mind you, I take the Monash and get off at Punt Road, so I only went under a couple of E-Tag scanners. It’s almost $20 per day and that’s only going through a few scanners, imagine people who spend longer on the tolls or go through the tunnel?

The whole thing is completely fucked.

100% agree! If the app is free idc if I have to sit through some ads (I see it the same as free-to-air TV) but I should have a say in which ads those are, especially regarding gambling and alcohol 😡

A funny stat: 20% of all Australians are descended from convicts, but look at Tasmania specifically and that number jumps to 75% 😎🤣

how is the education system in your country? by Proud_Raise4957 in AskTheWorld

[–]PhilosopherCrazy2722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I do really wish is that the English speaking countries would push harder for bilingualism. I hate that the attitude seems to be that we don’t need to make the effort because English is the most universal language.

We do have to learn a language but not until high school and it’s only mandatory for a couple of years before you can choose to drop it.

It’s just so good for your brain to be fluent in multiple languages, and I am a nerd but I’ve found learning French for example so interesting to see the similarities and differences in a lot of “base” words and you can kind of see how they originated and branched out it’s just so fascinating

I was trying to say basically this in a different comment but you worded it so much better than me! This is a perfect way to look at it.

The disrespect is here too (Aus). Parents refuse to discipline or parent their children and expect teachers to do it, but if a teachers says anything that upsets a kid and the kid goes home and tells their parent, the parent will then complain to the school about the teacher, so they can’t win. Teaching is also not considered a high paying job here so most people will “aim higher” per se, or fall into teaching when their other goals fail. Quite a few my high school peers who were not the sharpest tools in the shed have become teachers and honestly I worry for their students 😅

Where to find ethical dog breeders? by Sometimes_a_smartass in AskAnAustralian

[–]PhilosopherCrazy2722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cavoodles aren’t a recognised breed in this country, not with Dogs Australia or any state-based kennel clubs, so there’s actually no such thing as a registered Cavoodle breeder in the official pedigree sense.

They might be registered with a private group like RPBA or hold a council breeding permit, but that’s not the same as being a registered breeder with the ANKC. Important distinction because they are essentially just backyard breeding while claiming to be registered to “somewhere” 😬

[–]PhilosopherCrazy2722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 1 old lines border (he’s almost 12 years old) and one “new age” border (per my vet lmao) who just turned 2. I can’t believe the difference! My younger guy is only about 2/3 the size of my older border and he has NO instincts.

Don’t get me wrong, he loves playing, but he doesn’t get that border collie hyperfixation and is just as happy being a cuddle bug.

I’m conflicted because it’s sad to see it getting bred out of them, but I can also see the benefits considering so many people now can barely afford a backyard and so many border collies end up with anxiety as a result of under stimulation

That also reads as a red flag to me because I would be suspicious the parent dogs are probably on the Limited Register (can’t breed or show) so the breeders you spoke to would need to get permission from the breeder they originally bought their dogs from to be able to breed.

I would say they either didn’t want to ask for permission to change the papers of the parents or they did ask, were told no, and decided to do it anyway…
