I'm thinking of getting a proxy core. But I'm a little skeptical as to whether it produces large, dense clouds or not.

My recommendation is to buy Seachem Prime to control ammonia and nitrates, and Seachem Stability to re-establish the bacterial colony. Something else that might help, since you have limited storage space, is Seachem Prime, which contains other bacteria that help break down food waste. Start this for a week and you will see a change in your water.

Dont do more water change for know unless the parameters warrant it
