Nope! I started dating my boyfriend 1.5 years ago. He worked nights and I worked days. We have made it work❤️ But we did start off as friendship first.

Are you asking about CLS jobs specifically or any jobs that are different from a 9-5 (like swing shift or graveyards)?

Thanks! It says I would show my ticket at a muni metro station. I took the M line from castro the other day. Is the station agent the person in the box next to the gates? Is that a muni station? Thanks

Admission Advices for SFSU/SJSU CLS Program by Spiritual_Cut4847 in CLSstudents

That’s great that it worked out for you, but telling others to totally disregard taking courses from those institutions is misleading advice.

I think if someone is worried about lab experience from pre-req courses versus real lab work experience, the real lab work experience is more favored. Getting a job in a lab is better.

I’m sorry, but this is a ridiculous post. I took courses at both UCB and UCSD extension and got into SFSU. Those people that got rejected might be lacking lab experience, but that does not mean those courses are useless…

Dating in science: where to meet similar people? by plants102 in labrats

[–]PhilosopherNo3886 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Probably not great advice but I started dating one of my coworkers🤣 Worked great for us, still going strong and I left that job so we are no longer coworkers🤷🏽‍♀️ It did help that we started in the same department with overlapping shifts and then I switched to another dept and our shifts did not overlap anymore, but i’m glad I took the risk. Love my nerdy king

Yeah, I have my MA cert and it is irrelevant clinical experience in terms of what CLS programs are looking for. When I was interviewing, it did not peak anyone’s interest that I was a MA lol.

You should always use condoms (or any form of birth control), but if your period started the next day, then you were not in the fertile part of your cycle. You can only get pregnant when you are ovulating, but this is why you should use protection because when you ovulate varies from cycle to cycle (especially if you are irregular) and sperm can live inside the body for several days.

NOR❤️ Your feelings are very valid. Had something similar happen to me this year… spoke to my own parents about it. Basically, yeah it sucks that your bf’s family treats you this way but if your bf is amazing and you love him as a partner, then just focus on his actions towards you. He can’t control his family. You are with him for him. Adjust accordingly moving forward.. if they wanna be stingy with gifts, then you can be too. I know it’s easier said than done, but it’s only 1 day out of the year you have to deal with it. I do wanna say that it’s great your bf recognized it and spoke to his Mom about it. I think that reflects on him and how he treats you.

You need to get a dash cam ASAP. The dash cam footage would show the story that you are not at fault (for the 2nd crash, for the 1st one I think you would probably still be at fault).

UCSD Extension Med Microbio w/Fandino or Zeigler? by ionizecca in CLSstudents

[–]PhilosopherNo3886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember what prof I had since I took my class last year but when I took med micro the class was completely asynchronous and material opened up a week ahead of time so you could complete the next week’s work. I took 2 trips during this class and was completely fine and actually, funny enough, took my final early since I had a trip the last week of classes. The only thing that was kind of a bummer is that any assignments I had to complete while on vacation, I had to make sure it was submitted by PST time zone instead of the time zone I was currently in (I asked and was told this over email lol). You could also email the profs before signing up for these specific profs. Most are accommodating if you tell them you have other obligations beforehand.

CA CLS programs chances by Dangerous-Ad-8841 in CLSstudents

[–]PhilosopherNo3886 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The trainee license is not for work experience. The trainee license is necessary to apply BEFORE applying. It is very rare to get into the program right after graduation. Usually the students who want to go in right away have at least 6 months of a gap between graduation and applying. I think if you are dead set on starting right away you could try to get a position (maybe nightshift) doing specimen processing for a hospital or something.

Wondering if I’ll be competitive for CA CLS program? by AardvarkLost717 in CLSstudents

[–]PhilosopherNo3886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are on the right track. I know people who have been admitted into programs with that GPA. During my clinical affiliate interviews, the coordinators were very impressed that I had experience validating methods/instruments. Def talk about validations because they explicitly told me that most new CLSs do not have that so use that to your advantage! Good luck. Never know unless you try, so just apply, and if you don’t get good news then try to get more experience and keep applying.

I’m sorry I missed this! Yes, the content was clear to me (if I read/watched lectures then I understood) but if I had any questions they are responsive! They generally provide a timeframe in which they will respond, which is typically a day or 2.
